You cool with him messaging rape victims? Dude is moron.

I'm aware of that. Where did that entire story go? Nowhere. It died down because he didn't follow up, nor did he DM her anything incriminating. The only "issue" was that he sent a DM at all. It was a stupid thing to do, no question, but it's not some "gotcha" moment.

I've heard from someone who has insight into Ole Miss' program (family connections) that Freeze just needs to stay off social media. It's "mostly" about him being too old to understand. He thinks that if he has something to say to someone, that it's normal to just DM them even though he doesn't know that person. He just needs someone to control his social media.

The point you aren't considering is that Auburn is in a pretty bad place in terms of falling behind at a pivotal time in college football. We are quickly at a point wherein we probably need to strongly consider taking a "risk" like Freeze who can produce quick results (which he would do, btw). Texas was in the exact same spot and they ended up hiring a guy who had known sobriety issues. What's the guarantee that Sark won't start boozing again? There is none, but he's currently sitting with a Top 5 recruiting class and coming off an absolute whooping over Oklahoma.

Is Freeze a guarantee to not do anything stupid at Auburn? Absolutely not, but one DM that went nowhere in ~4 years at Liberty isn't a smoking gun. The stuff at Ole Miss was ~7 years ago.

Thanks for that post You are 100% correct that we are at a pivotal point. The next hire has to be one that points us in the right direction, and is not a time for someone who has to OJT, acclimate to the region, and learn to deal with the pressure that comes with coaching in the SEC WEST.

You say this like they've played 5 games since he took over.

Their schedule is very favorable going forward.

He was the DC. Go look at how his defense played so far this year.

Given a choice of a coach who has never been an HC, and a guy who took FREAKING CINNCINATI TO THE PLAYOFFS.....

His entire career is one big gotcha moment.

39-25 at Ole Miss with a ton of talent that was the result of blatant cheating is not worth hiring another high school coach.

He’s just a creepy/holier-than thou/hypocritical version of Gus with a huge NCAA blemish on his record.

He is a dumb Gus. Considering Gus walks around like this, that is a profound statement

I’m a decade older than that stupid frick and I “understand” not to send a text message to someone WHO IS IN THE PROCESS OF SUING YOUR EMPLOYER.

But good news, “the story didn’t go anywhere”. As if an action so BLINDINGLY STUPID is okay so long as you get away with it.

And as you have repeatedly mentioned, his career has been pockmarked with many examples of piss-poor judgement. You’d think the dumb sonofabitch would have learned to be more careful AFTER GETTING HIS PREVIOUS SCHOOL ON NCAA PROBATION AND SUBJECTING THEM TO TENS OF MILLIONS IN LOST REVENUE.

I know you are in love with the idea of Freezus “redeeming” himself at AU. Maybe you have the confidence of one more of the AU higher-ups who are considering hiring this dumbfrick.

If so, kindly inform them that the University that I have loved and supported for my entire life, and from which I graduated 40 years ago, will never see a dime of my money so long as Hugh fricking Freeze is employed. That includes the years after we fire him for failing miserably.

Thanks.

I have.

Gave up 253 yards to Wazzu in a 3 point loss

Ohio State bossed them around. But Ohio State will do that to most teams.

Gave up 300 yards to Illinois in a game where the UW offense ran for 2 yards. I repeat, the UW offense ran for 2 yards.

Their Defense really hasn't been the issue this year. Their offense committing turnovers and giving the opposing team short fields has been the bigger issue.

He's absolutely not. I'd rather not have a trash human who will just quit in a couple years when things get tough.

So what if he does? He’s left each program in better shape than when he found it.

And how exactly is Saban a terrible human being?

Idk, stepping over and cussing injured players when at the dolphins, taking uat paying players to another level, covering up arrest scandals for uat players (see Rolando McClain), bad mouthing his own fans every chance he gets, Killary Clinton supporter. Take your pick .

Couldn’t disagree with you more. We took in Bruce Pearl after a slip up and look what’s he’s doing for us. I think High Freeze is the answer. I think his redemption story is Auburn. I just don’t like Kiffin and just don’t see him being a good fit here.

All of what you say is true. BUT...the biggest problem is not that he didn't learn - the problem is that he still, to this day doesn't think he did anything wrong. He's the most dangerous, deplorable type of narcissist on the planet.

Bruce’s issues and Freeze’s issues are not comparable.

I don’t wanna cheer for a guy that makes underaged girls change in front of him or thinks it’s a good idea to message a rape victim because his Jesus like buddy is being sued.

Also, don’t you ever say Matt Rhule. Screw him for everything he did to Cam Newton. I spit on any Auburn fan who mentions that fricker.

What did I miss? Cam was getting older and clearly not the same QB that he was earlier in his career.

I respect that but the point of the thread is which coach is CLOSEST to consensus choice, and Kiffin has more support than Freeze. The coaching hotboard thread is more appropriate for your response.

Those two games in a row against Denver really kinda ruined him.

People who try to equate Bruce Pearl and Hugh Freeze should relinquish their Auburn fandom. It would piss me off if I was Bruce. They are not even in the same area code.

ETA- also Bruce was a much better coach before Auburn than Freeze.
