I'm good with our current model.
Next season we will have lineups like the one you're suggesting also with the opportunity to play a more traditional lineup if we have to.
PG Cooper
SG Powell (Brown-ish)
SG Green * (Doughty + elite NBA athleticism)
SG/Wing Flanigan (Love him on both sides of the ball as his body fills out and shot develops)
SF/PF Cambridge
*PLEASE

I believe we undervalue shooting in our recruitment efforts.
We should have brought in a grad transfer 3FG shooter

One great thing right now we have going for us right now is our big 2019 freshman class.
6 Freshmen.
Minus Okoro.
= 5 Freshmen who all look poised to be good 3-4 yr guys.
Stretch - The staff loves him. Has a ways to go but should be a good piece for us to hold down the 5 for the next 3 years even if we don't get Cliff or others.
Cambridge - We've seen what he can do and what he needs to work on. No reason he can't start at the 4 for us for next 3 years and the sky is the limit as he gets more comfortable. He is very raw still.
Flanigan - Already a tenacious defender and has strength around the bucket on offense. The shot is a work in progress but you can see there is a good framework there for high level shooting.
Williams - Bruce has raved about his skill set and what little we have seen has been great. Could play the 4 or as a small ball 5.
Turbo - The sketchiest of the 5.. but there have been a lot of freshmen for whom the game seemed too fast to go on and have good careers.
Having these in place allows us to go after the one and done types to place into the lineup for some extra firepower if we can get them. And if not we just plug with backup plans and move right along with this 2019 class growing and developing.

Agreed and we tried with Rayjon Tucker but he went pro.
It's harder than it seems to find elite 3 point shooting. Because you also have to find elite 3 point shooting who can defend 3 point shooting at a high level. Those guys aren't growing on trees.

I hope Bruce keeps raving about him. We need him to stay, but he hasn’t played enough despite playing good whenever he was on the court.

Sorry, I have JJ on my mind for some reason.
I like Williams, and as someone said here Pearl likes him a lot.
He looks like he just needs seasoning, and a lot of practice and refining.

Yeah, I think his issues are primarily on the defensive end. And our production from the 4 and 5 spots this year has been very very good on both ends. Efficient offense and elite defense from our 4's and 5's has kept Williams buried a bit.
Interestingly, the emergence of Cambridge + arrival of Chris Moore next year makes me think it's not going to work out at Auburn for one of those 3 (Williams, Cambridge, Moore). It's also possible the staff likes one of Moore or Williams at the 5 as well which could change things. Just from what little I've seen Moore seems like a better possibility at the 5 than Williams due to length and jumping ability.

I would imagine Stretch will be a max 20mpg player due to potential fouling issues.
I would imagine we could have a 5 man rotation of guys at the 4/5 who all average between 15-20mpg pretty easily

I think you're talking about johnson, not williams

Dropping some ridiculous coin to get 4 of us into this game...please let us win!

Someone please give me hope that we have a good chance to land a big man like Wiley. We really need some big men to fill in the roster next year

Started off as a slight underdog early in Vegas (so I heard. don't follow their lines), but it's opened at -3 Auburn across the board now.

What can I say, BP has raised my expectations

Pearl stood up at halftime and told a bunch of kids that were getting their arse handed to them that he wasn't going to change the lineup in the second half because he believed in them. Then they went out and won a game they should have lost. Yeah I believe in Bruce Pearl. To say he has raised expectations is a statement in fact.

No chance. BP prefers more agile bigs that can play on the perimeter. Think anfernee types. I'd be stunned if we ever have another old school center

GTFO out with this bullshite. Wiley is a very clear poor fit for what we would like to do.
Slow big men who can't shoot aren't valuable anymore
