Auburn has offered Mountain Brook standout Colby Jones. Tigers offered Saturday after Jones visited for the big recruiting event

Is this a legit offer, or another preferred walk on from MB?

He did well at some Nike camp recently. Has offers to Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and others.

Gotcha. He isn't ranked on 247 composite which is why I was wondering.

Just watched some of his tape on YouTube and he reminds me a bit of a more athletic Bryce Brown. Sounds like his recruitment kind of reflects Bryce's too, except with a better offer sheet obviously assuming those are all committable offers. Good shooter and good D like Bryce.

Georgia is recruiting him really hard. He’s also apparently visited Harvard and Yale as well so he’s a smart kid. He said in early May that he wants a school that has a good balance between academics and basketball though. Xavier is another school he’s interested in.

I have to think we are going after Boston a lot harder right now and Jones will probably go to a school that has already been prioritizing him. JMO

Marcello spoke to Kessler and his dad and should have more info coming
Encouraging quotes:
quote:

Walker Kessler on Auburn as a program: "They’re definitely on the uprise. No doubt. You look at these two past seasons: two back to back SEC championships, a Final Four appearance. There’s no telling. Who knows? Maybe the next two years they’ll win two, back-to-back national championships. The thing is, you look at the recruits that go into Auburn, they’re not 4- or 5-star guys. Coach Pearl takes these talented players — and I’m not dogging them at all — and he takes them and develops them and he makes them to play together. And that’s how you win, you get a team who all plays together."

quote:

Oh, Auburn definitely has a shot, more than any other school," Kessler told me. "They’re in my top three probably because it’s so close to home and the appeal of a coach like coach Pearl who can get all his players to play for him, and has your back. That’s really appealing as a player. That’s really the main thing

If we actually land a 5* UGA legacy Bruce is officially the GOAT. Especially considering footballs shite tier track record with our own legacies this past decade

From the picture I saw he’s about the same height as his parents so we’ll see. Really like how he plays

He's got that killer instinct on offense like Harper has. Watched some highlights where he dropped 51 in an 8am game

Daeshun needs to teach our football team how to get up for early games like that

It’s going to be interesting to see how we do next year. With Chuma and Harper leaving we aren’t even ranked in the most recent off season poll. I will have minimal expectations for next year but high expectations for the year after that. We just need to lock down Shariffe Cooper and some of those other 5* guys

I think we will be a bubble team a lot of next year but hopefully round into form towards tourney time and who knows then?

Regardless, its fun to have 5 freshmen. Will be cool to watch them develop in what is kind of a "house money" year for the program.

It's crazy that next season is sort of a rebuilding season, but I still think we're a tournament team, top 5 in the SEC, and probably top 20-30 range in the country

The real fun starts in 20-21. I feel confident about Sharife, I'm starting to feel good about Kessler, Boston is high on us and if we can get Kessler then it'll make our chances of getting Boston or Brown even better... shite could get real crazy, y'all

All hail God Emperor Bruce
