I read your “I’m out, I can’t watch this anymore” post while we were up 69-67. If you’re not the most milquetoast fan I’ve ever seen, you’re at the top.

For an 8:00pm game on a weeknight against a 1 win UGA team? Yeah I was upset, it was late, and I went to bed first thing I did at 5 this morning was check the score.

Bless your heart. I understand now why you had to hide under the covers.

We won. That’s all that matters. UGA has played some close games at home. I couldn’t watch because I’m out of the country, but it does suck we blew a big lead. It also looks like we were short handed.

It’s a good season. I think I underestimated the loss of Heron and the power forward plus Wiley has been injured so much. We could win any game or lose any game depending on shooting. I hope everyone comes back and the addition of some length will help us. Also I would like to see Wiley play a full season.

It all boils down to 3 players, we tried to replace w/ what we thought were better replacements for Heron, Murray, and Mitchell.
Wiley - struggled after a year off, and now injury-prone.
Purifoy - struggled after almost 2 years off. Little help offensively and defensively.
McCormick - has helped at times, but lacks the D and power drive capability of Mitchell.

Wiley's lack of contribution inside has hurt the worst.
He has played no more than 23 games in any season he was eligible to play.
Even if he comes back next year, I don't expect a full season from him.

You're correct... my bad.

We've beaten ONE good team since early December.

Yay?

New NET rankings out, we moved up 1 spot to 23, as did Florida from 31 to 30, giving us our 3rd quad 1 win. Have a chance for another one Saturday in a game we will probably be favored in.

All 3 of our remaining games are quad 1 opponents. Could do wonders for the resume.

If we can somehow win all 3 we go from bubble talk to a chance at a 5 or 6 seed going into the SECT. I think going 2 of 3 is a good goal.

I felt like we would be bubble talk if we lost to Georgia. With that win and looking at our remaining opponents, we should be locked in even if we go 0'fer from here on out. (Which we won't)

I tend to agree we would be in even if we go 0 for 3.. but we'd probably be biting our nails a bit on selection Sunday depending on how SECT went. Before yesterday, even if we were on the proverbial bubble.. we were on the very edge of the good side of it.

We also clinched a first round bye in the SEC tournament with the win last night.

One more victory should be enough for us.

And, incredibly, we're a game back from the 4 seed/double bye. 6 teams vying for that slot right now.

I'd take 1 of 3 at this point. This team obviously can get hot and shoot anyone out of the gym, but as the season wears on teams have figured out how to beat us. uga figured it out but it was to late after letting us go for 50 in the 1st.

TeamRanking's simulations believe we need 1 more win to effectively lock it in

Currently they have us overall #28 (7seed) proj 21-10 overall

TeamRankings "Odds to make NCAAT by Win Total (include SECT)"

19W - 23.2%
20W - 76.0%
21W - 95.7%
22W - 99.1%
23W - 99.7%

NCAAT Region Seed Odds
5- 5.6%
6- 12.8%
7- 20.3%
8- 21%
9- 16.2%
10- 10.3%
11- 5.4%

It is kind of nuts to think of the ridiculous regression in Danjel Purifoy from '17 -> '19. Even when you include his post ankle injury scrub games, his efficiency was ridiculously better

Purifoy's usage based on KenPom Poss% & Shot% numbers are very similar 2017->2019, so the dropoff isn't due to volume/usage

True Shooting % (FT + 2FG + 3FG)
'17: 58.0%
'19: 46.1%

2FG%
'17: 45.2%
'19: 41.7%

3FG%
'17: 36.9% (#23 in SEC)
'19: 30.8%

FT Rate
'17: 37.3
'19: 18.0

FT%
'17: 87.9%
'19: 66.7% (9 attempts)

Fouls Drawn per 40min
'17: 4.0
'19: 2.4

KenPom ORating
'17: 113.6
'19: 102.2
