We have 3 GT spots, don't we?

I was thinking two, but I could be wrong.

DeSean Murray
The feelings about bringing him in are so mixed, especially since he will sit a year.
Pro: 20+ppg 8rpg power foward, high FG%, who performed well in all his major conference competition games
Con: Only 6'5 220lb and has not demonstrated any game outside the paint (1/11 from 3PT for career),

Tahj has decided to take the medical hardship scholarship so that gives us 3 open spots.

Well hate that for him, but it's probably best. Guess that's another reason the Houston kid was a take.

I'm not exactly stoked about taking Murray, because our number one priority should be assembling immediate impact players and he has to sit. I'm perfectly fine with his game. He doesn't need to shoot threes for us. We need a skilled low post presence, which is what he is. If he does join the team, we ABSOLUTELY need an immediate impact big with our last spot.. or we'll again be depleted in a certain area for several years running now. If we could get some immediate help in the paint, we could possibly make some noise next year.

It is hard to imagine we could convince 3 impact grad transfers to fill effectively 2 positions (PG or C)
Makes sense that we pull a standard transfer + 2 Grad Transfers PG + Big

3 positions, 3 potential grad spots.. don't forget about PF. As much as I like Spencer, him and McLemore aren't entirely sufficient as our post players. I'm not going to buy the hype that Reed is substantially better, until I see it. We need bodies down low. If our focus isn't on immediate help in the paint, we can forget about competing for anything again next year too. To me, it looks like R.Johnson will be our grad G and that's it. We don't need 2 grad PGs.

There is no way we are able convince two separate quality grad transfer big men is what I'm trying to say.
If we could, we should bring in 3 GT. I just don't see a grad transfer PF/C coming to Auburn when realizing 'They brought in a grad transfer big man, return a key big man, have a 7ft guy plus brought in a FR'
ETA: There also is a ton more competition for grad transfers from major programs

I don't understand what you're saying. If a grad transfer big, Spencer, a 7 footer that has been in and out of trouble(barely registered any substantial minutes while on campus, not exactly dependable) and an unheralded true freshman, scares off a grad transfer post player because of our depth down low, we don't want him anyway. The fact we can offer immediate playing time down low should give us a leg up on most major programs because most teams are a lot deeper than we are in the paint..

That is a lot of depth. And no guarantee of playing time.

This is the most baffling part of your statement. It is absurd to think Auburn coming off a 11-20 season is good enough as a team to convince not one but two quality players to come here.
The lesser of the two grad transfers would be competing for only one spot against a promising returning starter, a talented 7+ big and a freshman.
That is before youc onsider Danjel Prufioy supposedly isnow 6'8 and likely plays a stretch 4 eating into minutes.
There aren't that many quality grad transfer options year to year. There are more programs recruiting those options. Hard to imagine we snag not one but two of them

Major programs like Arizona, Louisville and UConn who all have brought in GT big men in the past year to start immediately?

You normally don't register minutes when you redshirt. Regarding trouble, he can't be in too much trouble if he was allowed back and hasn't had any publicly known issues. There is a good chance it was academic issues which he has supposedly worked on

You had asked earlier about our APR in the old thread. I saw an article the other day that said we were at 1000 which is a perfect score for the 2nd consecutive year.

That can't impossible unless Canty finished up his studies this semester and somehow Reed completed his studies while gone.
