Also, Jaykwon Walton committed to Mississippi State. It should also help MSU with Tandy and a few others with Walton's announcement. Huge pick up for MSU and the program moving forward..

Walton decommitted today

Wow, didn't see that. Know any specifics?

Nope. Rumor on the Bama board, but they don't know what's going on either

They've just accepted that Butler isn't guaranteed to ever suit up for them

JLee posted this as part of a b-ball update. My god I love Bruce so much.

MIDNIGHT MADNESS

Something else that will be exciting to follow is Auburn’s plan for its first practice of the season, and whether or not the Tigers can make it happen.

Colleges can begin practicing Friday, Oct. 12, and Auburn would like to hold its first practice under the lights at … Toomer’s Corner.

Yes, Toomer’s Corner.

Auburn’s plan includes installing a raised basketball court in the streets of Toomer’s Corner with lighting and seating. Practice would begin at midnight (which would be late Thursday night, Oct. 11) and fans would be encouraged to attend. Auburn’s football team hosts Tennessee on Saturday, Oct. 13, so it likely would be a packed house/street.

Auburn tried to do the same thing last year, but there wasn’t enough support. This year, the plan has momentum. It has more support. I’ve heard Under Armour would be a major sponsor and provide the court. Other sponsors have pledged support and more financing. The SEC Network likely would televise it.

Still, nothing has been finalized. Not yet. More support/financing is needed. But I will say that there is a lot of optimism, much more than a year ago, that Auburn will get it done.

What College Basketball Teams Had The Best Out Of Nowhere Seasons?

3. 2017-18 Auburn Tigers Another SEC team from last season, but for a different reason. Auburn was named in the FBI investigation to begin the season losing Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley for the season, arguably the two most talented players on the team. They didn’t even start receiving votes for the top-25 until week 7 after some okay wins in the nonconference. The Tigers then started SEC play by beating top-25 teams Tennessee and Arkansas. They were eventually co-SEC champions and entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 3 seed

Four-star forward Jaylin Williams plans to take five official visits in the fall, but only has one set so far. Williams, from Brantley County in Nahunta, Ga., will be in Auburn Sept. 14-16.
“I haven’t decided which five schools I’ll visit, only that one will be Auburn,” Williams said. “Auburn is recruiting me really hard. Everybody at Auburn is recruiting me. The coaches call every week. I have real good relationships with them.” Williams took an unofficial visit to Auburn in the summer.
He participated in a team camp and met with the Tigers’ coaches and players. “It went good,” Williams said. “I played really well and then I met the players, walked around campus, went to the cafeteria and saw the dorms.”

Williams’ familiarity with Auburn has the Tigers in his top group, along with Louisville, Florida, Georgia and Cincinnati. His relationships with Auburn’s coaches, including Bruce Pearl, and Auburn’s proximity to home are other reasons Williams is high on the Tigers.
“Auburn isn’t too far from home, and I’m not trying to go too far away from home,” Williams said. “And the coaches seem very chill and very cool, and I like that. I don’t like coaches that get on me all the time. Auburn coaches seem like if I make a mistake that they can fix it without wanting to knock my head off.”
Williams, who is 6-foot-7 and weighs 215 pounds, plans to make his college choice after taking his visits. Rivals ranks Williams the No. 80 overall player in the 2019 class.

That would be an incredible experience. That is how you get people fired up and interested in basketball at a football crazed school. Winning the conference helps too.

2019 guard Tyrell Jones just scheduled an official visit to Auburn, according to Showtime Ballers coach Diana Neal who told 247Sports of the prospects plans.
Jones, who was one of the breakout stars of July, has scheduled the trip for the weekend of September 15th.

The trip to Auburn's campus won't be Jones' first trip there, as he took an unofficial visit to their campus in June. The Tigers were one of the first high major schools to offer him a scholarship. There are currently four logged predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball. All four of them are for the Auburn Tigers.

The Orlando (Fla.) West Oaks Academy standouts had a huge summer playing for Showtime Ballers and compiled more than 30 scholarship offers and interest from a host of others.

To go with Auburn, among the other schools that have offered are Rutgers, USF, Tulane, UAB, Xavier, VCU, Houston, Ole Miss, Wichita State, WKU, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Clemson, Boston College, St. Louis, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Louisville, Georgia, Minnesota and Florida.

Jones isn't currently ranked in the 247Sports Composite, but that will change once the post-July rankings are updated.

JUNIOR KEON JOHNSON PENCILS IN TWO OFFICIAL VISITS
Garrett Tucker
August 10, 2018

Keon Johnson 2020 Bell Buckle (TN) Webb School wing Keon Johnson was one of the most impressive prospects we saw during the travel season, and, as expected, many college coaches took notice. In fact, a flurry of high-major programs tracked him closely during July, but none more than at #BOTS.

The rising junior played host to a variety of head coaches and assistants, ranging from Virginia's Tony Bennett to Western Kentucky's Rick Stansbury. With the majority of the SEC hot on his trail, Johnson and his family are prepared to take the next step with his recruitment.

The Tennessee native has scheduled two official visits for this fall. Vanderbilt will host him for a visit the weekend of September 8th, and then he will make the trip to Auburn the weekend of October 13th. Both Vanderbilt and Auburn have been recruiting Johnson extremely hard. Bryce Drew and Bruce Pearl roamed the sidelines watching him throughout the summer.
The top-50 prospect has already visited both campuses unofficially. Johnson's mother, Conswella Sparrow Johnson, was a standout for the Tigers during the 90's. She was named an SEC All-American twice.

In addition to Auburn and Vanderbilt, Johnson is also being recruited hard by Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia, Wake Forest, Iowa State, and Stanford.
