Where did Garrett come from? I don't remember him during the recruiting process. Also, how was he rated coming out of high school?
2011 signee. 3* on rivals from Tucker High School in Atlanta. Pretty decent offer list. I remember he had pretty good film for a pretty undersized LB. He laid the wood for a smaller guy.

I get that Kiehl may never be the guy. I understand players slip through the cracks. My point is Wallace won't be the guy either. Again, nothing personal in my opinion of Wallace because I wish everyone displayed the heart he did last year. However, he does not have what it takes to be #1 with possible better QBs coming in. Wish him the best and would like nothing more than for him to prove me wrong.

Maybe Wallace will eventually move to another position if he doesnt work out at qb, kinda like kodi did. Kid seems athletic and has a lot of heart maybe he could be used elsewhere at some point?
Because I agree with you, he plays with all he's got but I just don't think he's an sec qb

Justin Garrett asked Thigpen to move to S when he was on scout team and Thigpen told him if he wanted to play safety he could transfer

Yep. The shite I have heard about Thigpen from players, Tigerettes and business people in the AU area is just absurd

To be fair Garrett does weight oover 170lbs, so he could not play safety under chizik

86 play scrimmage today
almost 50 / 50 run pass
Malzahn said "Corey Grant stood out. Had some good runs. He can flat out run"
Grant had 2 long td runs. One was at lest 40 yards.
KF and JW each had a TD pass. One to Denson and one to Fulse
Jake Holland - "We didn't do as well today on defense as we wanted to. I would say the offense won today if I was keeping score"
Jonathan Wallace said cornerback Jonathan Jones stood out at the CB position made some good plays and had some hard hits
Justin Garrett continued to play well. "He's just a hard hitter. He never gives up, he'll run you down from the the far side of the field and punish you" Corey Grand said.
TE's seem to be a prominent part of Malzahns offense with my pass plays looking to the TE as the first read.
No practice monday. Will practice Wed, Friday, then Aday game.

He played along 4 star recruit James Vaughters at Tucker. I remember being pretty excited about Garrett as an underrated player becuase he had as many tackles his senior year as Vaughters. Garrett was just undersized coming out of HS so he was not highly rated.

I'm in 1000% agreement with this

Timid and soft spoken aren't exactly qualities that translate to success at QB in big boy football. Which is exactly why I don't think KF is ever more than a backup after NM gets here.

NM needs to get here. I can't see him starting after only a couple of months on campus.

Not like he's an 18 year old kid coming out of high school. He should be ready for the speed / intensity of the game. It's just a matter of grasping the playbook in a short period of time.

How do y'all like his passing abilities? I just watched his film on hudl and was not impressed. He has a big arm but most of his passes look like lobs. He can run though..

What you are saying here is that at worst he is on par with our current QBs right?

Basically. He is probably faster than the 2 we have now.
Go watch his hudl and tell me if you feel any better about our qb situation

From Jay Tate. This part of the article was free.
Robenson Therezie has found a home. It's probably a bit frustrating in light of Justin Garrett's remarkable acclimation to the hybrid position, but at least the staff knows where Therezie fits now. He's a phenomenal talent -- a thick, compact hitter with excellent acceleration -- but he doesn't have the coverage intuition needed at cornerback. At the hybrid spot, Therezie can be a hell-on-wheels pass rusher and an addition to the Tigers' ability to tackle in the open field. I expect Ellis Johnson to design packages that allow Garrett and Therezie to play concurrently.
