The girl appeared to be in the wrong. No one seems to be arguing that. Being in the wrong doesn't deserve Mixon punching her lights out
Not sure what type of twisted AF logic says "This girl was wrong therefor Mixon was right"

Both of them can be completely in the wrong. That isn't mutually exclusive

Taylor Keeten and the rest of you morons can continue letting your gf hit and slap y'all around, but that's not how it is in my house. As I said the other day, I'll never lay my hand on my wife but then again, I'm not letting her slap me around either. She would be forcefully separated, and then she would be out. '

One slap or punch to the temple in the right spot and you're gone. Even a woman has the strength to do that. Has been done before. Don't be stupid, people.

So in summary, we all agree on the following

-Girl was definitely wrong for slapping Mixon

-Mixon was wrong for escalating force instead of removing himself and alerting authorities

Both of them seem to be shitty people

Well, on yahoo sports, they reported he would be off the team if it had happened today.

But back in the old days of 30 months ago, times were different.

That's going across ESPN ticker. Stoops also said that he wished the video would have come out immediately after the incident.

OU should've done everything they could to get the video released back when it first happened. That's on them.

This hasn't been the smoothest December for OU football.... Story comes out about Westbrook beating his girlfriend or whatever... and this whole Mixon saga. Will he interesting to see if it carries over to the game.

Girls that hit giys should not expect immunity from getting hit

Guys that hit girls are almost always TPOS material.

I still haven't seen the video but that's my ideology. I expect not to sympathize with the woman at all and also think this Mixon guy should be ashamed.

In this country if a man says something offensive/vulgar enough to a woman an open-handed slap or drink in the face has historically been an acceptable response.

And why is that? Do you find it acceptable? I largely agree with Ross.

The woman isn't above criticism, but she would've had to do a HELL of a lot more than that to deserve such retaliation from Mixon. I mean, that was the equivalent of handling an ant problem on your lawn by firebombing the front yard. Unless he was lying on his back and just flailing away in self-defense, there was no excuse for that shite. Pick your battles, FFS...

Short answer: Gender roles.

Long answer: Because women are typically weaker and more emotional than men. Men are typically stronger and more aggressive. Therefore when a woman hits a man it's because she was insulted. It's acceptable because she is weaker and the man is strong and can take it. When a man hits a woman it's out of sadistic anger. It's wrong because he is strong and she is weak.

It's been this way for centuries in more progressive cultures around the world. Look at some of the places where it's socially acceptable for men to hit women. Are they really the kinds of places you'd want to live? Without some kind of social structure society breaks down and leads to anarchy.

That's fine and I'm not disagreeing with that. It just seems like women only claim this when it's convenient for them. They want to claim equality when they push for combat roles as well and that's bullcrap.

Yeah, I'm not even going to touch this. I'm already on my ninth live around here.
