If I were his parents, I would have an honest discussion with him and evaluate his talent vs getting a free education at Auburn that will set him up for life. I haven't seen anything from Holden to indicate he can play QB at a high level.
Depends on how smart he is. If he’s really smart I’d consider transferring to the Ivy League.

If he isn’t getting PT with this group when will he?

He's not more talented. Take the Redshirt and learn to play at this level over the summer. Go to a Quarterback Camp.

He took a RS last year. But I agree with you.

Why do QBs forget how to throw when they come to Auburn? Stidham went backwards. Nix looks like a world beater now. Thorne threw all over the place at MSU. Ashford threw well at Hoover. Grenier probably threw well in HS too. There are QBs all over the country, including true freshmen, who come in slinging. Our guys? Not so much.

Something it seems like all of you are missing on the HG throwback play -

The throw was supposed to be to RB J Cobb. I'd bet in camp this was drawn up for Alston - they are similar backs, but the more experienced Alston is hurt. Well, the TF ran straight into an OM defender rather than go around him, leaving HG going WTF and holding the ball.

Yes, it was a shaky playcall and yes HG held the ball too long, but it was one sidestep away from working with the whole OM D going the wrong direction.

No idea what Cobb was doing there. IIRC it was a LB too that he tried to bulldoze instead of streaking by

Offensive line gives them 1 second to think instead of 3-4.

Y'all say all of that, but all through fall camp we kept hearing Holden has the best arm. If he's getting no reps or few reps, how is he supposed to be able to excel in a live format. I know I'd be a deer in the headlights if I only got a few and then was tossed in the fire.

I have a hard time believing coaches are keeping a more talented QB on the bench for any reason.

Yeah me too

Counterpoint:

The same coaches are continuing to play two very ineffective QBs and apparently decided a good idea would be to split the play calling duties by QB among the respective play callers

So I'm also hedging that there is some possibility that our staff is wrong on Holden
