Every Auburn fan could have told you Bruce was the best choice at the time, where JJ gets credit is actually making it happen.

Not many ath dept were desperate enough to hire Bruce, given his baggage. Jacobs deserves credit... most ADs would be too scared.

Exactly. When he approached Bruce about the job, Bruce wasn’t even sure he could take it because of his show cause.

Yes. Jacobs does get credit. He made bad decisions but his hires were mostly decent and most of them made the Auburn fans happy, initially. If Bruce was fired three months ago, he would’ve gotten credit for that too.

That's true. His football coaches have had some big years but overall nothing better than solid hires.
Anything with a bat has been embarrassing. Softball had good seasons but it's all overshadowed by predator coaching. Basketball has been a shite show, present season nothwithstanding

Were any of our hires considered “bad hires” initially? I think most people like the Barbee hire. Gus was Luke warm, but he’s won trophies. I think the baseball hires were considered ok, but I don’t follow baseball. Then Bruce was a good hire. I’m not a JJ fan, but his hires haven’t been that bad.
