War Eagle. I don’t know where best to start. “Sincerely sorry” seems like as good of a starting place as any.

I’m all for spirited debate and discussion, but it truly hurts me to see members of our AU Family turn on each other, on our players, staff, coaches. Many of you have the luxury of discussing anything AU and anything sports-related amongst a great many topics of discussion with your family members, neighbors, friends or coworkers nearby, fellow classmates, etc. I do not have that luxury here and never have and never will. The closest thing I have to that, in all honesty, is trying to replicate that on this board, my favorite, or any other message board / chatrooms, and only in writing. Most communication experts generally agree that effective inter-personal communication is roughly 80% non-verbal and 20% verbal – the actual words we try our best to select and use whether it be to show contempt, (dis)agreement, confirmation, frustration, surprise, etc. I don’t have the luxury that I assume many of you do around the water cooler or cookouts, get-togethers, holidays, and just day in and out social relationships.

I do believe that what we choose to post online, tweet, etc. impacts others, including potential recruits, current players, staff, fellow posters / fans / Au Family members, others. As well, remaining silent, showing disinterest or outright disdain, borderline hate, also speaks volumes. In other words, and feel free to call me crazy (please don’t call me Shirley;-), what we choose to post, or not, and how we choose to express how we feel about anything, AU football in particular, can either be helpful and positive and detrimental and / or destructive.. Recruits, their families and friends, parents do read message boards. I feel that too many of us are not helping our program (recruiting, otherwise) in that regard.

I guess I should stop here for tonight. This is not meant to be seen as any excuse, but living here and with the time difference an all, I guess I often come across, probably more than deserved, as the drunk uncle from God knows where who shows up for family gatherings from time to time. Maybe you have that drunk uncle in your family / circle. Do you know his backstory? Ever sat down to have a decent chat with him? Drunk or sober, if he didn’t give a shite or was not forced to attend family events, he would not be there. No one forces me to post or participate here or to better get to know my family members, but I choose to because my family is important to me.

Anyway, I have no problem apologizing for hurting feelings if and when I do. We all have feelings, I assume, whether we are “man” enough to admit. Or, maybe, unfortunately some of your personal or our AU Family members just don’t give a frick. That is very sad, in my opinion. Best stop here for now. I don’t care to keep digging holes.

War Eagle. Feel free to Google “yoroshiku” if you like. It is an indispensable Japanese concept, much more than just a word, so I will save everyone my take on it. I hope you all have a happy and satisfying War Eagle week. You and yours too, Jang. I'm sorry.

John

LOL and Cheers. Any suggestions???

Apologies. I figured the board would be more interested in pics of perfect breasts than me changing my sig, but I will work on that next. Thanks for your input.

Auburn is something we are all passionate about. We all have the goal of success but different ideas about how to achieve it. May God bless you and your family. WDE

What you keep doing is carrying on like a child because others hold different opinions about what is best for Auburn. Just state your opinion, tell Jang and I that we are assholes and move on to the next topic.

Yes, and yes, and a sincere thank you. And of course this is "just" a message board and needed, useful place for us to chat all things AU, I hope all of us will keep in mind that each and every post carries weight and responsibility. It's true.

If I were a recruit and took a quick look through our recruiting board over the past few months for example, already picturing and putting together future staffs 6 weeks away from kickoff, what do you think a potential recruit (parents, friends, teammates, etc.) would think? And yes, our posts, our attitudes and feelings as to our program, our coaching staff, leadership and its direction, etc. matters IMHO. Ergo, we can bitch all we like, but we are doing AU football no favors.

We are living and posting in different times now. And yes, I believe it matters very much in all things AU, especially in recruiting. Many recruits are focused on NIL money, many are focused on playing time, coaching and program stability, and still, many are very focused on support (or lack of) our fanbase, and that is ONE thing that WE CAN control with every fricking post. And no, as I have been told, I do not have to live in Japan to know and see these things. Everyone online can. 6 weeks from kickoff and "we" are already hard at work assembling our future coaching staff. NOW is NOT THAT TIME for message board fodder and discussion for anyone to see. If you think each and every one of your posts doesn't help paint our AU picture, you are ver, very sorely mistaken IMO. War Eagle.

Sorry again, Pete / repeat. You just don't get it. And I will throw your own words right back at you. Fair?

I will take your suggestion to heart and call you and Jang assholes, and move on. Maybe you might do the same. War Eagle.

Bro chill out. No one is panicking no one has pitch forks and going to burn down university buildings. Some are expressing their displeasure. Some are expressing their support. That’s what message boards are. If you’re to emotionally invested to enjoy the ride maybe take a break. The Auburn roller coaster isn’t going anyone anytime soon. It emboldens my fandom.

Maybe it's just me but every time I see it it looks like a woman in her underwear but with a "War Eagle" dong sleeve. So virtually anything else would be better.

I have taught high school students for over 25 years. Trust me. They are not reading message boards, even those who plan to play college sports. They don't read much of anything unless it is required. Check the history on their computers. The searches are mostly for girls in booty shorts. I just don't think we can compete with that.

I hope this is better. The "War Eagle Day" scrap of cloth was piece of a decades old T shirt, and no, there was no dong behind it. Sorry for mistakenly thinking a slim and beautiful mid-30's Japanese woman with a beautifully trimmed bush and converted AU fan wearing a navy blue thong, on purpose, wishing everyone a happy War Eagle Day would cause problems for anyone. If all you can think about is a...whatever a dong whatever is, maybe that's on you (plural, as seems to be the case)?

Not that anyone does, but probably best to not take me seriously anyway. I mean well, if that counts for anything.

War Eagle.

Cheers Petti. I explained in more detail in a few other posts somewhere, but basically 1) I had trouble staying out of trouble at home in Auburn, and 2) I had to accompany my diabetic and cancer-fighting father for him to complete a 3 month collaborative research project during the summer of '93 with his long-time Japanese colleagues here from their days together in grad school at Vandy in the mid 60's. They named a new species of Japanese Trillium in honor of their Professor at the time, the late Dr. Ben Channell. I had no desire to travel to Japan at the time, but didn't really have a choice. Three months later, I didn't want to leave Japan. We went back to Auburn, I finished up my last few quarters and returned to Japan in '94 with an initial plan for a 2-3 year stay, and that has stretched to 27 years so far. Come visit, standing invite always open.

Trillium have been very thoroughly investigated by many workers in Japan in order to trace their lineage and many scientific papers on this exist (we have now added many of these to our members area). Trillium channellii is a fairly recently recognised taxon which, like the related T.tschonoskii, contains elements of now extinct species. It inherits half of its genes from something very close to the present day T.camschatcense. (in this case, “almost T. camschatcense” appears to have been mother) along with a quarter each from the two extinct species.

I'm here because of Trilliums.

27 years of life in Japan would probably bring out plenty of weirdness in anyone.

War Eagle.

ETA I guess this is redundant now, but I came across my earlier post mentioned above.

What were you doing in Japan other than drinking sake? (My response) - Can you give me a more specific time frame? If you mean how did I end up here, there are basically 2 reasons. 1) I had some difficulty staying out of trouble in Auburn, and 2) I had to accompany my father here in '93 for him to complete some botanical research that was very important to him. He was a childhood diabetic, and had already had several surgeries and rounds of chemo for a fairly rare type of throat cancer by '93 and someone needed to come here with him to make sure he was okay and looked after during our summer here

And no one has ever learned anything with his (her) mouth open (eyes / ears closed). Don't really give a shite what you do.

Your choice.
