I think Gus will have to bring somebody in to incorporate a more developed passing scheme if we truly want to adjust the offense.

WE have done that. I do not want them to do any more coaching changes. We need some stability to the program and the players. If he cant fix it himself, then let him go and get someone else.

For the record, I do not want him trying to go more pass oriented. I want him to work towards a bigger run presence and work towards what he knows how to do.

Updating our pass scheme has nothing to do with going more pass oriented. I think Gus has struggled understanding this as well. We have started throwing more, but that doesn't mean we are throwing the ball better.

What we need to update is our actual scheme, the route trees, how receivers attack coverage. Our passing attack does not utilize the field. I have no problem still being a run first team. I do think if we go that route, we need to utilize the QB run much more. Either way though, we absolutely have to update our passing game to more modern concepts.

Gus has to do better against our rivals to stay on as our HC. His records against LSU and Georgia are abysmal and need to be corrected immediately. We lose a lot of players next year so I’m assuming that will be the deciding factor if Gus stays or goes. If he can hold it together with a win over 2 of our rivals then he will be trending upward, lose to all 3 he’ll be fired, win 1 of the 3 and he’s probably gone.

With all due respect, he stopped doing that after the 2014-15 season.

He needs to "adjust" his offense some and I expect him to do so. It is his responsibility. I dont want any interference in the offense. Dont hire anyone, dont fire anyone.

This is my biggest area I will disagree with you. I honestly do not believe Gus is capable of updating his passing scheme on his own.

I don't want Gus to be forced to make changes...I want Gus to realize he needs to broaden the voices in the room and make a small change or two to the offensive staff. First and foremost we need to commit to running the ball and that will include endangering the QB in his offense from time to time like he did against bama. Second, we do need to find a voice in the room that understands modern passing concepts better than what we have currently. This doesn't have to be a coach, it could be key analyst positions. I wouldn't want us to go to 50/50 run/pass but we are going to have to use Bo's arm from time to time. There are aspects of our current offense that doesn't make that easy on Bo.

Win one out of 3 with 9-10 wins again and he's not going anywhere.

Only way he gets the boot next season is if he has a 2008/2012 type implosion.

This win buys him through 2021. He has to beat uga and LSU at least once each in that time frame.

Yea I agree. Saying he has to beat two of the top 5 teams in the country is a little overboard. LSU, Bama and UGA all have the talent to be top 5 teams again. While I want Auburn in that same category, getting there is not like snapping your finger. We have not had the talent to be there consistently. Lets build on what we have and get back there realistically.

Playing LSU and Bama back to back does suck but I think we have a better chance of beating UGA in October especially with them breaking in a new QB. We also play Umass the week before LSU while LSU has Bama, SCAR, and then us in consecutive weeks if I remember correctly.

So not sure that will be the case

Washington also fired Chris Patterson so for all those who was ready to trade Gus for the Scientologist, he is available after a 4th place overall finish in the Pac 12 north

We had better grab him up

Chris Peterson stepped down at Washington and it's rumored that he's a candidate for the Dallas Cowboys job.

He’s literally stated in interviews that plays a factor into why he is happy as the DC at Auburn. How are you always wrong?

State retirement is more of a perk for him at this point. Like free parking at the stadium.
