I mean, they tried to make it look pretty with that explanation but there is no doubt he was pushed out.

You don't push somebody out and keep him hired. Most likely he is stepping down so he can be there for his son with the brain condition.

So he is getting a promotion for his 6-5 Pac 12 record. Ok

ETA: 7-5

The son has had the same brain conditions since he was a 1 year old. The reality is likely a mutual parting of ways due to a program heading the wrong way.

Petersen gets a gig while he recharges and tries to coach again next year.

Can't believe you forgot to include the blowout win over Eastern Washington.

Pushed out with a career record of 146-38 and took Washington to the playoffs a few years ago? Okay.

And? One of Peterson's primary reasons for taking the Washington job was because of said son that has had the same condition since he was 1. So, why would his son not be a factor now?

Washington, agree'd to part ways after one 7-5 season after three straight 10+ win seasons? Jesus, they are worse than us

Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, Peterson was not "fired". if Peterson wanted to coach next season, Washington is not telling him no.

No, I mean want to try and make the point you are attempting to make again. I'm not sure where you are getting a promotion from.

Gus Malzahn has the exact same record as Chris Petersen over the past 3 seasons, and he coaches in the SEC West

27-12.

Call it what you want. It sounds like he has something going on that is not being told or its too much on him to be a college coach. Im sure the "advisory" job could be to pacify him not to go somewhere else.

Either way, a SEC job may not be a good fit for him.

Sure. That is very different from him being "fired".

Pat Dye calling for the AU Family to come together to support Gus as of this PM. Claims AU has a tendency to screw things up and firing Malzahn would be a mistake. Also claims we have NC caliber defensive players and incoming recruits. Admits our lackluster offensive line play this season. I say this, Gus did win against UA and i applaud that. The o line also did not give up a sack and opened up running lanes. That was needed to win and it is what they delivered. He needs to win the upcoming bowl game against UW or Michigan in my opinion to silence the calling for his head. Gus must find a way to beat UGA and LSU at least 50% of the time going into next year.

You were implying Washington fans would be crazier than Auburn fans calling for Gus' head due to his success at UW. Gus is doing a better job at Auburn than Petersen is in a weak Pac 12 and it's not close.

I wans't implying anything. Washington fans would be crazier than Auburn fans for pushing Peterson out after this season.

Are you trying to argue that Washington fans should have higher expectations than Auburn fans? Your argument here is making absolutely no sense. Washington would be crazy to force out a coach who has gone 39-14 over the last 4 years. That is one of the best runs they have had in program history. This was most likely a rebuild year for them anyways.

Stop listening to Pawl...

I heard him and of course I agree with him but I also see both sides. You may think I am totally pro Gus but I have plenty of criticism of him. I always have.

He needs to "adjust" his offense some and I expect him to do so. It is his responsibility. I dont want any interference in the offense. Dont hire anyone, dont fire anyone. Just let him work with Bo and the returning starters to build on what he has done this year.

He MUST make it better. He has a tough job ahead of him but that why he is getting paid. UGA, LSU and Bama all have more talent than he does and for the most part, always will. I still think Gus is a very good coach and I think he is a perfect fit for Auburn

This is my biggest area I will disagree with you. I honestly do not believe Gus is capable of updating his passing scheme on his own. His offense relies too much on formation packages. We burned two timeouts in the first half because we didn't have the right players on the field for a certain play he wanted to run (not even a trick play, just a normal play).

I think Gus will have to bring somebody in to incorporate a more developed passing scheme if we truly want to adjust the offense.
