If the committee wants people to play in tough tourneys and play the games like Auburn played before the conference began - we are in.
If not, plans for teams schedules shift and we see no basketball on TV until football is over.
You think there will be a NCAA Men’s b-ball scheduling revolution if a mediocre AU team gets left out of the tourney?

Makes it easy on the committee when a fan base says- ahh F’ it, don’t compare us against other bubble teams we don’t belong and we hate our coach
personally i care as much about getting a bid as i did about playing a bowl game after going 5-7 last year - what little short term upside you get is pretty worthless to the program in the long run

I only care because it's fun to be a part of it. Bowl games for a 5-7 or 6-6 team aren't fun and never have been.
But yeah if snuck in I think we would get drilled immediately. This team is weak

making fun of his appearance like that is too much, even with my opinion of him.

I somewhat disagree. This team doesn't really "deserve" anything, but they're good enough to win a play-in game and probably a first round game on a decent outing.
Now, I highly doubt we'd win two games in a row, but regardless, Auburn making the field and winning a game would be good. As much attention as it would draw, Auburn getting in with such a bad record would also be a marker for the program - ie, getting the benefit of the doubt. Those would be big for continuity and relevance and giving SP the best possible chance to make a go at keeping us afloat.
Now, we're not getting in, so it's irrelevant, but I'd like to. I certainly have zero interest in seeing us in the NIT.

I agree, but I found it funny of “Finding Nepo” and it being him
Social media is ruthless these days. He’s actually a suave looking guy

It will be a grave mistake to let Pettiford walk.
He is due a bounceback season and this season wasnt all that bad.
We need to go get Tre Donaldson one more time and then go to work.

Honestly, and I don't know if this is deliberate in this case, but in the past that type of image has also been an anti-semitic trope.
Edit
Corch beat me to it

“3 on 1 and pettiford turns greedy”
This one pissed me off. All he had to do was leave the ball for one of the other 2 at the basket. And those two decided not to try to get the rebound and let a UT guy run down there and get it.
Not only that but (I forget who) gave the ball up to Pet in the first place, I'm sure assuming that it would come right back for the easy/uncontested dunk. Just bad basketball.

I disagree but not because I am anti-Pettiford, I just don't think he makes a ton of sense. Gotta think moneyball approach matters so much now. I don't think there is enough money to go around for his asking price to make sense for our roster building. Granted I could be overshooting what his asking price is, but if he demands $2mil or more then it doesn't make sense.

I guarantee he didnt.

quote:Pettiford can still be the rallying icon that is all we have left that we wanted him to be. I hear you on the moneyball concerns but it might not be cheaper to replace him nor more productive. Petty is electric and did lead Auburn to the final four. He is still our guy.

If we do go get someone that is a PG and valuable he will probably cost more than 3 million. That was the number that I read three weeks ago. We need to go get a backup point guard like Tre Donaldson, and use Petty as the primary and as an off ball guard. We needed Tre Donaldson badly this year and from what I understand he is open to return.
Edit: I also read now that Donaldson is out of eligibilty so maybe my sarcasm detector is also running low on batteries.
