It’s amazing to me - The number of Auburn ‘fans’ on social media, in general, that are literally saying Auburn doesn’t belong in the tournament and subsequently bashing the coach. Personally, I just can rationalize that logic. Even if I thought it, I would say to my personal friends and family in private, but would never publicly shite on these guys chances of getting in. Makes it easy on the committee when a fan base says- ahh F’ it, don’t compare us against other bubble teams we don’t belong and we hate our coach. Get what you deserve. Against my moral code and I do subscribe that AU is family. Just my take, makes us look dumb. Taking it out on you here. Apologies.

We are in a complete rebuilding mode.

Yeah, Pettiford didn't live up to his or the teams expectations. I think he might go try and find a team composition closer to the one last year. It's clear he is miscast as a PG.

This team should be in the tournament compared to the rest of the bubble teams. The metrics love us because we have some big wins and played the toughest schedule.

Eh, they probably dont.

The criticism is deserved. He lost the team in a very important stretch of conference play. He failed pretty bad in his debut season as a head coach about as bad as he could.
This team was never going to win the SEC or make a run to the Final Four or Elite Eight. But, they're certainly more talented than the 12th best SEC team. He had the opportunity to rally the troops when things started to go sideways and every move he made seemed to make the guys on the team give less and less of a shite with each one. Only thing to do now is reset, build his squad for next season and get to work improving. All the other committee and AU Family comments are irrelevant.

Yeah and what is crazy is that Bruce and Steven both knew/know this and built the team around trying to make him a 1 anyway...
That is just crazy.

Whole post. Well said.
17-16 is just not very deserving although I wanted us in.
Have only been in 14 times. Being in makes March Madness more interesting.

Pettiford did not live to team expectations but he just had a fun playing style. He could be electric and played his best games against better teams.

I certainly wont say they got hosed if they dont. They would have been a 9 seed if they beat a very lowly Ole Miss team at home. They had so many opportunities to dance.

I disagree completely without analyzing the losses. 6 losses were by less than 6pts. Basically, final possession. 3 losses were to 1 or 2 seeds. Beat a 1 seed on the road by double digits. Resume sucks if just looking at record, but just a little bit of analysis indicates we have a better resume than other bubble teams. It doesn’t matter what you think, it matters what the data shows.

I am just talking to yall. I am not some twitter hero desperate for fan engagement. I dont post at all.
If you see Hoke's posts he is sayin a lot of the same stuff about Hall that I was during the game. Hall made us worst if he wasn't catching and shooting. The Hall effect we had against Florida has been long gone.

Here is that worst loss that you were asking for:
Bad Ole Miss team that had lost 10 straight

Both the UM and MSU losses show exactly why this team isn’t deserving of an invite… a tourney bid only buys SP more time to destroy the program … the $ people are not going to prop this situation up

So how does this look for our chances to Dance?

“3 on 1 and pettiford turns greedy”
This one pissed me off. All he had to do was leave the ball for one of the other 2 at the basket. And those two decided not to try to get the rebound and let a UT guy run down there and get it.

Yeah, you can look at these points and take them as positives. They are. But you are ignoring the glaring negatives for some reason. Taken to OT by Bethune-Cookman early on. Got absolutely shellacked by Michigan and Arizona. Git shellacked by Purdue who has fallen apart down the stretch. Then proceeded to lose by double digits to Mizzou before losing 7 or 8 of 10 to close out the regular season. Which, oh BTW, included being embarrassed by our main rival.
Yeah, there were bright spots, but they're outweighed by the bad and downright ugly spots.
