Not super worried considering he’s coaching TEs.

Y’all are really impatient frickers when it comes to coaching searches.

This hasn’t been unusually slow at all

I think BSU’s expectations are through the roof.

They had 2 second team all conference lineman this year. 2 first team and 1 second team all conference last year.

That’s 5 separate players too. Not repeats

Well I think the idea people are going with is Friend recruits them in and Bedell develops the lineman. Since Friend doesn’t have a great rep of developing

Boise State fans online seemed kinda happy to be rid of Bedell, as opposed to when Danielson was expected to leave. They claim he didn't develop players well. Could be sour grapes though too.
In contrast, they’ve had nothing but praise for Uscher. They give him more credit for Harsin’s recruiting success than Harsin himself.

Generally I agree.. Just seems like the Boise St coaches could have been announced last week or earlier this week. Maybe they have contractual reasons or something I don't know about though.

Edit-- Danielson now staying at Boise St.

How could they have been announced last week or early this week when their employment and actual positions on the staff quite obviously depended on how the rest of the staff turned out? Schmedding can't be hired as the ILB coach until you have a DC in place because that impacts how the staff is filled out. Derek Mason is a DB coach by trade which means that there is room for two LB coaches (if we want to go that route), however, let's say that we somehow got Marcus Freeman instead who coaches linebackers on top of being the DC. Now what? You officially name Schmedding and then relieve him of his duties a week later?

Brad Bedell's position on the staff also quite obviously depended on the pick for OC and their input. Bobo wanted to bring Friend with him as the OL coach. That pushes Bedell to TE. However, lets say we flop on pursuing Bobo and instead somehow end up with someone from Harsin's staff at Boise as the OC. Under that scenario perhaps Bedell is actually the OL coach, not just TE coach.

The reason why the Boise guys weren't named right away is because their positions were dependent on bigger hires made around that that have a trickle down effect. You can't hire Schmedding as a LB coach if perhaps Derek Mason has a different idea for his own guy there.

Not to mention that some of them, like Danielson, were waiting to see who the new BSU HC was going to be.

I’m sure a few might have had conditional offers from Harsin at AU, but he gave them a little extra time to see if they possibly were in line for a promotion under the new regime in Boise.

I didn't want to quote to whole post, but I can see that. Thats why I said maybe there are issues, contractual or otherwise, that could have been the hold up. We've been hearing Bedells name for close to a week though, maybe he's already been hired and they are just delaying the announcement for some reason? Schmedding seems like a guy Harsin wanted to bring over no matter what too.. I don't see a connection between him and Mason. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.

Can’t hire quickly for the sake of an already lost recruiting class. I’d feel differently if this were a normal January where coaches could bring players in for official visits.

Oh I'm not even worried about recruiting right now. This year is a wash lol. Most of the big transfers have either already made up their mind or are close. Not to mention the 1 time transfer rule is looking like its not going to get passed at this time, so it makes transfers a little less important.

I'm just legitimately curious about the pace of the interviews/announcements.

Why get frustrated about the pace of hiring?

It’s just you wanting things to happen at your convenience.

What are we missing? Explain yourself as if you are trying to make chicken shite into chicken salad.

+1 for working the chicken salad phrase into this lol. I'm not frustrated in the least though. Legit just curious about their process. Do I think somethings could have been done quicker? Maybe. Do I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes that I have no idea about? Absolutely.

It does look like Harsin didn’t want to really bring in position coaches before he had coordinators on board. Part of that might be the package nature deal of college coaches. Bobo brought friend. Harsin likely didn’t want to handcuff his coordinators with Boise guys if they had a guy they really wanted

Anyone hearing Roman Sapolu, 4 time Super Bowl Champ Jesse Sapolu's son, for TE coach? He is at Fresno State right now

Damn. We’re going to hire two TE coaches?

Seem overboard but maybe
