so a couple of things

all the Boise beat writers actually seem to say this is a really big loss for Boise and that Danielson is an up and coming coach

Boise even picked him as interim HC when Harsin left, which is pretty big for a guy that young, though of course they didn't have a bowl or anything

Another thing: Danielson's most recent follow on Twitter is Kyle Krantz, the ST and LB coach at USCe, who used to be at Auburn under Gus and left for USCe with Muschamp and Trob, and Krantz' most recent follow is Danielson

could be a connection there

Krantz seems to be a Muschamp acolyte. He has followed him everywhere, including to AU in 2015. Not a bad mentor for a defensive coach, though Krantz has also worked with special teams.

Could be a coincidence with the Twitter follows, though. These coaches know each other more than an outsider might think.

Krantz is currently unemployed. Beamer replaced him.

He was promoted to on-field coach, demoted, and repromoted within 3 seasons while at USC with Muschamp.

Mike Sanford Jr is an up and coming young OC that has ties to Harsin. He has a good history working with QBs and has a reputation for being an excellent recruiter. He’s currently working under Fleck at Minnesota. A reunion wouldn’t surprise me.

FWIW Boise State led the MWC in sacks in 2018 and 2019 by a comfortable margin each year. Those were his first 2 years as D Line coach. Those were the only 2 years of the decade that Boise led the MWC in sacks

No surprise there. Worked with Sark for the Falcons.

Plus gives Sark another coach with HC experience, even if that experience is with Rutgers.

I’m good with whoever Harsin brings in. He has a program to build and I’m sure he wants to establish his culture out of the gate. He’s probably not going to venture too far off the path he has taken. Can’t critique that yet given the results he’s had at Boise.

Hope it translates

I agree.

He can bring his entire Boise staff. If we win at a high level, it won't matter.

If Harsin wins big at Auburn, it will make household names out of these no name Boise guys. They will promote to bigger, better jobs and get rich.

Hopefully he brings in whoever he wants. If it’s all boise coaches then so be it. Let him do it with what got him to the dance. Forcing him to hire staff is no different than the good ole boy bullshite we are trying to get away from.

Didn't Gus bring in a bunch of Arky St. coaches? Outside of Ellis Johnson, they were pretty much all his guys. And he seemed to do pretty well for a couple years (until his QB development went to shite).

He will not bring his entire staff, but he will bring a couple deserving coaches with him. Boise State is a legitimate program, I think its kinda funny that the two guys everyone wants to keep (T-Will and Caddy) had virtually no experience before coming here but god forbid Boise State have their own versions of young "rising star" candidates.

I'm fine with it, especially at position coach positions or recruiting coordinators and the like. I still wish he'd hire some bigger names for OC and DC, especially DC. (OC is less important because Harsin has his system and I'm sure he'll hire someone compatible with that).

I expect that this will happen. I believe they're still waiting to see what happens with Avalos and the Boise HC job. There is now some chatter about Derek Mason, and I think they're after Freeman from Cinci as well, but so is everyone else.

Yeah. I am sure Mason is hot right now. So is Freeman. Pretty sure Freeman has already officially interviewed with Coach O. And I wouldn't doubt Sark has at least considered those two as well.

Not really. He had Rhett and J.B. Grimes that came with him.

Brought in Gardner, Rich Biasacca (before he bolted for the NFL) Horton (originally hired to coach TEs/ST, replace by Scott Fountain when Horton moved to RBs) Dameyune Craig, Melvin Smith, and Charlie Harbinson.

Surely we hear a position coach or coordinator hire within the next 24-48 hours, right?

By the way, I've seen some suggestion that Danielson was expected to stay at Boise as the DC if Andy Avalos ended up getting the HC job there. This now raises the point that perhaps they're not hiring him (they're actively interviewing other candidates) and if so, is Avalos now legitimately in play for the DC job here?

It's definitely within the realm of possibility if he's not going to be their next HC.
