Gus was headed towards greatness and then after liken2 losses someone convinced him he couldn’t call plays and still have time to herky jerk around with the boosters. Same people that convinced Chiz to run Sabans offense in 2012. There have always been people in the program that are dumb with too much influence. Always assumed we have traitors in the midst sabotaging the program. Kind of like - Freeze! Call the damn plays! It’s why you’re a HC to begin with.

He’s my second favorite player in my lifetime by a mile.
After Bo Nix of course

Wut? We haven’t singed a single QB that could run the read option anywhere near as good as Nick Marshall.
Sure Stidham, JF3, and Bo Nix were all rated as “DTQBs” let’s not pretend any of the 3 could do what Marshall did. Both Stidham and Nix were more pocket passers who could extend a play with their legs….while JF3 couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn passing the ball. None of them were a true DT like Cam or Nick. Cam and Nick were both just as likely to break a 75 yard run as they were to throw a 75 yard dime to a WR.
I’d love nothing more than to see us get back to Cam and Nicks behind center and you are right about Gus deciding OTs were optional… but no QB we have signed since Nick can hold Nicks jock strap when it comes to being a true DTQB.

And yet, Greg Robinson was a major component of the 2013 successes.
Still don't know how 2012 was so dismal.

This is a very high quality stream of 2013 Iron Bowl with the commercials removed. Great game through and through with kick-6 being the cherry on top.

I suspect we see some tempo this year on offense. We can’t run 55 plays a game and rest on our defense and try to shorten games. Eventually you have to play your football and let your team develop. If we are sitting at 7-3, 8-2, or 9-1 sure game plan the way you want to try to get a championship or get into the playoffs but we need to get to playing especially on offense how we expect a Freeze offense to look

I like the way the schedule sets up this coming year. Nice ramp into the tough games and a lot of home games.

I dont even know that the rule changes killed it.
Nick Marshall was a rare talent at running read option, but yeah, it was entirely a gimmick based on wearing out defenders who can't sub. When that hole in the rules closed, those offenses went with them.
The NFL is a QB/WR game. For the most part, that's where college has gone and is going. bama traded their road graders and big backs for NFL wide receivers. So did UGA. We went and continue to go the spread/option route, which I think is a ticket to the permanent middle.
