With Kam Martin being the leader now, who do you think ends up starter? Who do you want to see get the job?

I hope Boobee wins it . I think whoever starts will do fine, but I hope Gus is smarter about rotation this year. I would be content losing the 1000 yard rusher if it means all of our backs are available and healthy going into amen corner/ sec champ game.

I think Georgia had a great model of rotation last year with the combined use of Chubb, Michel, and Swift. Kam Martin, Asa Martin, and Whitlow could all be used like Mason, Grant, and Artis-Payne were used in 2013. Have a lead back, with two supporting.

Edit: Also, I wouldn't be opposed to letting Cox do the dirty work near the goal line. Why bruise up running backs when he can just power it in?

Well I would imagine at 243 pounds (and someone who regularly blocks some pretty big defensive guys) he could get a yard or so. We've never seen him try it of course.

Point being, why not let a bigger FB power it in at the goal line?

It's harder than it looks. Gotta have some burst, and multiple ways to get it in the end zone. Kerryon had aerial ability and was good at setting defenders up outside, then cutting it up.

You can't just be a big dude.

my first concern would be ball security for someone who doesn't touch it very often

My concern with Cox at the goal line is everyone knows he is just going to try and muscle it behind the C or OG. No one is worried about him bouncing it off tackle. It's going to take some serious push from the OL with everyone crashing on the middle.

Same.

Hope Asa turns out to be #2.Sprinkle in a little Shivers.

I think Kam will win it, but will inevitably get hurt. They won't give him a massive workload though.

I think if we have 30 carries in week 1 it'll shake out like:
Kam 18
Asa/Boobie 10
Other 2

Line up in a power formation with a jet sweep option on the goal line to give someone like Schwartz a one on one opportunity going toward the corner of the end zone.

We averaged 45 carries a game last year, so I can see us running the ball in that same range this year.

I think we'll see Whitlow and Kam probably split the bulk if neither is the clear front runner for game 1, then Asa gets maybe 5-8 a game.

I'd love to see us get back to the 80+ offensive snaps per game range occasionally, like in the good old days.

so 45 rushes and 35 passes maybe

Yeah probably. Big games against elite defenses probably generally closer to 30 than 45, though.

Except against LSU last year when we built a big lead and decided to just give it to Kerryon every play for the final 3 quarters.

We were there last year... there were some exceptions, but for the most part AU ran 70+ plays per game, with a couple over 80.

I dont know why you guys set yourself up like this.

Gus will find a every down back. He will ride him as long as he can. That is what he does and it has worked for him

Id like a 70% run offense. 30% pass

We should know after the LSU game if history is an indicator and it wont be who started the first game. I dont know, why but Gus never picks the right guy to start with. However when he makes up his mind prayers sent to that guy. 45 carries a game and

I just hope the most talented gets the nod..

You have to give uga credit where credit is due. They have 5* after 5* rb’s committing because they know they will see the field early instead of being told they suck at pass protection and riding the pine.

They probably don't suck at pass pro if they're a 5 star, though.

And they’re committing because they know Kirby won’t run them into the ground like Gus does. You’d think Gus would’ve figured out players would like to save themselves for the NFL and go by committee.

Deshaun Davis literally said, word for word, “we have a running back by committee” and referred to Kam, Boobee, and Asa all splitting carries yesterday.
