I would apologize for derailing the thread but this has been entertaining

I never said Hurts was better than Marshall. They have similar playing styles

I never got the fact that everyone thinks Malzahn's offense has to have a running QB to be successful. I actually think he prefers to be more balanced. We just happened to have Cam and Nick as our best options the seasons they were here and he made the most of it. I actually think, especially in the next few years when Stidham has some seasoning and experience, you will see some the best offenses of the Malzahn era.

Hurts at AU would essentially be Nick Marshall on steroids.
Why, because they're both black? That's one of the dumbest things I've read in a while.
Not only was Marshall a much better runner, his style of running is completely different and not even really comparable.
Hurts is a downhill power runner that wants to hit the defender.
Marshall is a speed guy. He's going to run by you, around you, past you, and away from, you.
Hurts will consistently pick you up at least 5 yards in a cloud of dust, but Marshall was one of the mlst explosive and dangerous CFB players in recent memory. Marshall was a danger to score from anywhere on the field anytime he touched the ball and do it in spectacular highlight fashion. Hurts isn't. Hurts is a danger to pick up a first down, but you aren't really worried about him running 50+ yards.
Id take Marshall as a passer over Hurts too. Hurts completion percentage and TD:INT ratio is barely higher than Marshall to the point where it really doesn't make a difference. And Hurts had much more reliable targets to throw to with more options. Marshall progressed much more than Hurts from year 1 to 2 as a passer as well.
Factor in Marshall's arm strength which is on a whole nother level than Hurts and its an easy decision to go with Marshall. Nicks down field passing ability allowed him to open up the field in a way that a lot of guys like Hurts can't. Marshall's overall skill set in the offense we ran with him made him one of the mist dangerous players CFB has seen in a while. Without a doubt one of the most overrated players in at least a decade.
Hurts would still be great in Auburn's offense, but he couldn't hold Marshall's jock. "On steroids" is just downright laughable and makes you sound like an undercover Bammer.
And honestly, I prefer Stidham and the way the offense is working right now with him over what I think Hurts could bring to the table at AU. Our offense would be largely one dimensional with Hurts at QB. Not much passing threat IMO.
Stidham is so efficient passing it makes up for the fact he can't scramble for much more than a 1st IMO. Plus our RBs are playing so good that we are more than okay anyway

Hurts at AU would essentially be Nick Marshall on steroids.

Personally, I think both teams would be better if the QBs swapped. Hurts at AU would essentially be Nick Marshall on steroids
Well this is just shite. Hurts doesn't have that first step like NM did. And Bamas passing scheme isn't that complicated, they just have freak athletes.

Think you were trying to make a point they were both run first QB’s with some arm talent. Good luck on conveying a point man.

I've never seen anyone run the read option as well as Nick. Made the right decision almost every time
