Quotes:

quote:

I've known Harsin for a number of years and have a lot of respect for what he's been able to do.

quote:

I know Mike Bobo and have a lot of respect for him as a coach and a man.

quote:

I have some history with Derek Mason. Derek is one of the most respected DC's in all of college football.

He name dropped some AU players that stand out to him on tape:

Tank
Hunter
Nix
Shed Jackson

Defense:

Pappoe (who he recruited to PSU)
McClain
McCreery
Hall

He mentioned that he and his coaches don't know what tape to watch. "Do we watch Boise tape? Vanderbilt tape? Georgia or Colorado State tape?" He said AU's first 2 games probably aren't indicative of what they're going to do on Sat.

The press also drilled him about the USC job. He did not deny interest, just said he will "talk to the leadership council so he can stay focused on Auburn." (Not sure what he meant by that). There was no "pine box" comment or "I will not be the coach at USC" type of statement.

That means he is going to try to get a raise at Penn St, if USC asks to interview him. :)

You mean the USC job? The stittiest high profile job in CFB unless you run a payroll like Carroll and the NCAA ignores it? That place?

I guess it depends on lifestyle desire and $ but I would personally rather have the Penn St job

Expounded on recruiting and this game (the white out) being their biggest for recruiting

quote:

question: you just mentioned recruiting and saturday a little bit how many recruits players families that sort of thing do you expect to entertain on saturday ?

24:24 the the white outs are usually somewhere
24:26 around 300 and um that's you gotta
24:30 remember that's the recruit plus their
24:32 guests
24:33 um some of their guests are our
24:35 teammates that are also recruits some of
24:37 them are just you know moms dads
24:39 brothers sisters
24:41 or high school teammates or whatever it
24:43 may be
24:45 but we're usually
24:47 full you know we're fortunate here
24:48 having a 107 000 seat stadium
24:52 our student section is bigger than most
24:55 our our um
24:58 allotment of recruiting tickets is
25:00 bigger than most so that helps for games
25:03 like this because you hate to turn
25:04 people away but this is a game where we
25:07 typically have to turn
25:09 recruits away

I was just thinking about this earlier today. I bet this game is a real bitch for PSU to plan for.

Every time a big job comes open, his name comes up.

Heard for the last few years he wanted out, not sure why.

My tennessee coworker says they were deep in talks with him but he turned them down bc of the NCAA issues...said UT rumors were that he really wants out of PSU for the right job

and his press conference comments yesterday didn't even deny interest in the job

Would you want to live in PA or sunny LA?

Not my top two choices, but listening to his presser reminded me of a short but too long stay in Yankieville.

I mean I lived in State College for about 8 years. When Frqnklin got there, he was a really good PR guy. Went around downtown with players giving out signed posters with the football calendar. Not sure if it is town, alumni or other factors that may have soured him.

It is very much a college town with no major cities nearby. People are nice but the winter sucks.

Did anything ever come of that Isaiah Humphries' lawsuit? I remember being surprised a PSU legacy would file a lawsuit.
