Why not? Every year we hear about a few players who commit to school where they don't actually have an offer. They end up getting exposed, look like fools, and don't get the offer... but there is no rule about when a player can commit. Just because you announce a commitment doesn't mean the school has to take you. There is no rule that say you can only commit with an offer.

And I'm just going to put this out there.. If the staff didn't run off Kenyatta Watson, Deuce and probably a few others wouldn't have hit the portal.

So no QB, receiver corps gutted, defense and line looking thin...

APB out on Cobb?

I dont think you are getting it -- why self admit an infraction?

We all speed, but you dont put a sign on top of your car that says "I'm speeding, look at me!". That player could be required to sit a couple of games, by admitting an infraction. You cant even ask someone to walk on.

There's a REASON no one entering the portal as committed yet, although I am sure more than half already know exactly where there going.

Plus -- what would be the reason for announcing now anyway? The coaches and players probably already know who is coming or not. merely appeasing fans for 3 days is not a reason to get a recruiting infraction against a school

Alvin just posted a pic of him, Cam and Deuce with a stock rising emoji.

He gone.

There has been players already commit. A CB committed to USC a couple weeks ago. He came from Oklahoma State

I'll go a step farther, if the fanbase didn't run off Hugh, then Kenyatta wouldn't have been run off and Dueuce and probably a few others wouldn't have hit the portal.

You just don’t know how it works, so settle down and wait for the portal to open. All they can do is announce their intention to enter the portal. Pretty simple process at this time.

Meta you know good and well he can announce anything he wants. There are zero rules about a verbal commitment or announcing intent. If there was, you couldn't announce your intent to enter the portal before its open.

Dude, there absolutely ARE rules, which is why the wording of these announcements are explicitly careful.

For example, that Oklahoma State OT that announced his visit dates only did so publicly because he OFFICIALLY entered the Portal on October 26th after their staff was fired. Because he is already in the Portal (which is an actual database that the NCAA maintains) he can publicly behave like an actual free agent.

You will note that not one of these new Portal entries has announced any visit dates, let alone any commitments. I don't even know what you are trying to argue because the proof is so overwhelming. A lot of these kids obviously already have under-the-table agreements with new schools, so where are the public commitments if what you say is true?

Several Tulane players are obviously going to follow Sumrall to Florida. Again, go find me one public commitment post from a Tulane player to Florida who isn't formally in the Portal yet. You won't find one because they can't fricking do it publicly LOL.

Yes, this is called the difference between a player who was already cleared to enter the Portal earlier prior to the end-of-season cutoff date. These new guys (like Cam Coleman) are NOT in the Portal right now.

There is literally nothing confusing about this.

Fairly certain OSU players were able to enter the portal early when Gundy was fired. I believe they got a 30 day window in October.

OK State went 1-11 and fired their coach and so far 2 of our big portal targets are from that team. Ok.

Singleton for Singleton would be a fine swap. I don't think its a guarantee the USF WRs or Brown comes here though. You have to convince them to play in rebuilt WR room and behind 5 brand new portal OL.. Brown will for sure have better options than that. It will just come down to if he wants to play for Golesh/the OC.or not. If it was a lock though, it would have been announced already.

If the USF receivers are coming... to play in the same system with the same QB... How is the WR room rebuilt?

Unless he says out loud that he already had a scholarship then there is nothing to look into.

The other benefit besides appeasing a fan base that is growing increasingly frustrated... your roster and other portal players will know who the QB is.

The way that you are presenting it is actually confusing because both teams endured firings mid season so let's scan the rulebook.

Just because they haven't doesn't mean they can't. Pro players couldn't play college basketball a couple of weeks ago and now they can. I'm still waiting for someone to post the rule from the rule book about announcing intent.

Because they are in the Auburn WR room?

With Cam, Deuce, Chaplin and Arnold leaving, that frees up about 6M in cap space. I am not saying I want the all gone, but man we have a chance to build a fantastic OL/DL.
