At the end of the day I’m confident that the offense should be improved over last year. Would it have been awesome to bring back some of our talented WR’s? Sure, but only to the extent that they are 100% bought in and ready to work hard, learn the offense, and build a rapport with BB. The oline wasn’t great last year, so a fresh start there it what it is. 100% agreed I would have liked a few more home run type o lineman, but with the massive upgrades at QB and coach, I am not concerned about the offense. Running back group with a dynamic running QB has me pumped.
On the defensive side of the ball I was obviously disappointed that we didn’t keep a few more guys from last year with bringing Durkin back. But based on the stories we’ve heard about Crawford and Lee, I say good riddance. Would much rather have the corners we got, if those guys were a lockeroom/culture issue. Safeties and linebackers are loaded. A lot of young guys that were stud recruits are still around and should be ready to take a big leap next year. If I could pick any two guys that left Auburn this offseason to have back it would be Amaris and Blockton. Those guys are going to be tough to replace on the d line.
Overall, I think we have improved on offense and have at least held serve on defense, with the exception of defensive line, and have hopefully upgraded the culture along the way. Still need to finish strong and get a few more guys on both lines.

With cautionary skepticism.
People can say shite like our line cant get any worse, but it always can.

I agree with what you said, but I still downvoted because you asked me to.

From what I’m seeing just because I was curious:
Transferring In:
7 P5
17 G5
Transferring Out:
19 P5
3 G5
Some still haven’t determined where they’re going. Didn’t include even though they’re likely G5.
Some of our guys transferring in shouldn’t be G5 guys (like Brown & Singleton).
Some of our guys transferring out to P5, I’ve never even heard of (Louidor/Wheatland)

You the only wrong one. Wanting some chump backups.

The staff didn’t look at him as a chump, hence why they offered him so much to stay.

Also, just doing the math, going on estimates of what some are most likely paid, and if our approximate budget is correct, we are under budget and I don’t understand why we can’t offer an absolute BAG for the Colorado OT, Seaton. Unless, we’re saving it for reasons we don’t know and going to sign a bigger 27 recruiting class than expected. A serious trench heavy class would be great moving forward

Nobody wants to confront the fact we are bringing in 17-18 G5 players and losing 17-18 to P4 schools.

Yea we lost some dudes that landed on P4 rosters that I dont care about. They never really factored in yet.
There is also ample roster size across the board thanks to the new scholarship foortball limit at 105 thus another reason why our guys could be landing on quality teams.
But if we are spraying Amaris Williams, Blocton, Crawford, Deuce, and such to the SEC levels then they are getting high potential guys relatively risk free- except for Cam. They might have ample supply of quality players already and willing to take their chances on guys that hasn't performed yet but were cutting their teeth in the SEC. Staying power and experience is pretty powerful. I was pretty surprised at how well Woodward played this year- in year 4. I was also surprised at how well Romello Height, Lee Hunter, Keionte Scott, Jay Hardy, and so on played this year after being after thoughts for years. We dont truly know what we lost yet. The performance doesnt meet the paycheck talk is why HS recruiting matters so little because it's like we are always going to be too early to get HS guys now. And then there are going to be guys like Blocton or Tyrone Truesdell which I liked but easily discarded because they dont have gawdy stats. Some guys are just meant to plug holes.
Yeah we picked up bunch of G5 guys. We picked up Brown. He is already a household name in Auburn so he doesnt really count but the rest I am skeptical if we actually improved our roster.

I won't be the first to say it but it is clearly going to be a lesser roster in terms of raw talent. Not debatable.

Guess Simmons yapping F Auburn roll tide didn’t pan out for him.

One of the great positives for the OL is having a center with all that experience in the same system, who is very talented to boot. At the very least we should be able to get a hat on a hat instead of the missed assignments.

Texas tech isn’t a bad spot to land.
Competitive last year and have been paying some money.

We already signed our 2 starting OT's so we'd be paying 2 OT's starters $ and Seaton QB $. I don't think that's the way to go. I say spend that money on somebody who can sack the qb and find a serviceable OT to be backup on the L and R.

Shannon Terry saying the Colorado OT should get around 3.5 to 4

If you believe we're offering incentive heavy contracts vs up front money you can't believe we can spend the whole budget up front AND still fulfill incentives.
