Their 1s are legit, but they have zero depth.

This is not true. They rotate just as much as others.

so was Payton Thorne

Mendoza had decent stats but was 8-12 as a “P4 starter” before this season

and IU was probably outside the top 20 in NIL spending (Cuban didn’t start throwing bags till after the 2025 class)

Exactly. Watching people try to falsely rationalize what Indiana has done has been hilarious. You have people now trying to pretend like their low 3-star transfer portal additions were actually all known elite players that they paid millions for. As if the transfer portal rankings don't exist and aren't visible to all.

The players that Cignetti has brought in are largely players that everyone on here would throw a hissy fit about if he were Auburn's coach. These have NOT been "highly rated players". It is a ton of G5 guys, and guys that were considered to be "OK" to merely "good" P4 players that weren't standouts at all.

A lot of what he is doing has been contra to what the traditional thought process is, and that is a fact. It has been brought up before on here, but his OC and DC have been with him forever, and both of them came from the bottom alongside him. He did NOT follow the traditional model which suggests that in order to succeed at a P4 school, you need to immediately hire proven P4 coordinators. Look at any newly hired HC at a place like Auburn, what is the first question that will be asked? It will be which highly priced "SEC" OC and DC will he hire. If he hires someone like DJ Durkin then it is proof that they know what they are doing, but if they dare bring along their G5 coordinators then they have no idea what they are doing and will fail. Now, what Cignetti has done is highly irregular and normally does NOT work so I'm not suggesting this is some new model to follow, but it does show that success isn't as rigid and dependent on alleged "recruiting ranking talent" as people always like to claim.

At this point, that would be as good a guess as any.

Trinidad trashed Amaris and Blocton for their stats. Cant wait until he looks at Blocton's replacement from a 5-8 school.

BTW: Blocton to LSU, Amaris to Georgia, Crawford to Ole Miss, Woodward to Missouri

quote:

Trinidad: Lets do a quick review....

Malik Blockton was fourth on the DL in tackles, we play four on the DL so that would be fourth out of four for a team that is 5 and 7.

He had half the tackles of Bobby Jamison Travis who was playing some nose and should have far less than the DT position.

Take away the emotions fellas, its a business, we can replace this productivity rather easily in the portal.

Once the portal opens we will find a better talent, he will "grace us" with the thought of returning when he realizes his worth on the open market......and we can say thanks but no thanks.

Jang:
quote:

Well then dont ever try to recruit highly prized DL and OL recruits because youre not going to see results born over night. Woodward made the SEC all PFF team as a senior even though he barely saw the field the previous three years and I am sure he was a top 160 recruit in the country. Glad we didnt ditch him after we developed him. Tell Bama or Georgia or Miami youre welcome!

Trinidad
quote:

So now we are losing "starters" off a 5 and 7 team with a run of four losing seasons. Heaven forbid we clean this disaster out and bring in some who want to win.

Can we please take them out to the junction and see who wants to be a team. At least close the barber shop in the football complex for a week

Amaris needs to stay gone, fooled once shame on me, fooled twice. He has less tackles than Blockton. Are you kidding me? If this guy was asking for more than a buck fifty he has priced himself out of the market.

quote:

I believe this, and we made it even worse by paying them too much to start, they perform just a wee bit, and expect a raise on top of a bloated number.

And as you said, they hit the portal and reality hits, and we realize we can get far more in the portal for someone with less pay.

I hope we stand firm and do not take these kids back. Once you hit the portal thats it. Ive used this example before, but would you let your wife say, hey Im gonna go horn around, if I dont find anything better Ill be back?

You allow this and you will constantly have players doing this with no consequences. You let the first batch stay gone, the rest will think long and hard before they enter.

Now I see they have taken the step to "threaten the portal as a group" ie 3 DL at once, now talk of other DBs joining in as a group. What a cancer, let them go.

This aint no union fellas, ya leave, ya leave.

Give me some junction boys, fellas that want to be here, and earn their pay. Not pay and they may leave if they arent pampered, even though they dont perform but they have "potential".
