Yeah many people forget that the words won't hurt you.
Many people need to learn to toughen up...
because I think we are shifting back to being tougher mentally...so some of these folks all into their feelings & softness better

Yall are so deep into football cliches and offseason sunshine that yall have lost out on reality. Touch grass
Our players were not soft last year. They lacked a coach.
The 8-4 AAC coaching staff coming in runs a gimmick offense and is no more tough than lukewarm icecream.
Their D was not tough. Their discipline in the form of penalties was atrocious, and the offense got bent by superior players.

Yall are literally parroting the same bullshite yall said for Harsin.
At least the performance doesn't match the paycheck BS somewhat makes sense even though that's still absurd on many levels.

For the paycheck doesnt match the performance bros:
this is how you keep performance in stow:
LINK
If a player doesnt make weight: Fine his spoiled arse.
If a player is late: fine his arse.
If a player wants to loaf: run his arse then fine him.

It does sound like we are going towards that directins. I think Ferguson had an article earlier about our NIL shift going away from front loaded contracts to a more performance based incentivized contract. No doubt it will cause some pain in the short term making that shift but we've had way too many guys coasting on big pay days and doing jack shite with it.

And what if a guy just isn't as good as you thought he would be? Fine him until he gets better and lives up to the paycheck LOL? Being overweight or late are hardly the only reasons why a player fails.
Are you ever allowed to just cut your losses and tell a player to find somewhere else to play? Or is that not allowed because you are losing "talent"?

Good luck to Waller. He had 1 tackle in 2 years.

They absolutely folded over when it mattered in literally every close loss we played in (of which there were many). The defense conceded game-deciding points, and the offense couldn't even line up or snap the ball properly. This happened in multiple games. On the game ending 4th down sack against Oklahoma, Conner Lew (your future NFL, best OL) got obliterated so badly by the DT that he may as well have not even been on the field. This is an experienced player, not some young fill-in.
You can place that on Freeze or the lack of coaching, but it doesn't matter one bit. It needs to be corrected regardless. To pretend like the players weren't mentally weak is absurd. Cam Coleman, your superstar "talent" LOST the game vs. Bama on a brainless decision. He shouldn't have even been in a position to fumble the ball, because he should have gone out of bounds. This happened weeks after Freeze was relieved, by the way.

There are plenty of behavior and performance cases where dismissal is necessary.
There is a whole slew of players transferring out that I havent said anything about their departures.
But if you read Hoke saying we are going after smaller up front contracts and heavier incentives you should know we are probably not going to garner any elites. Protect your investment by enforcing a code of accountability that includes fines.

Lot of that has to do with Freeze. Countless times in the second half he looked puckered up.

People may scoff but he looked mentally beaten every time a call went against us or when we had second half turnover or mental lapse and that shite matters and can absolutely impact wins and losses in close games. Body language from the head coach is important.

So we're gonna try to find 2/3* talent and coach/ scheme them up to beat the 4/5* talent everywhere else in the SEC. The melts over the next few seasons will be epic!

Hoke's article about the NIL approach had this nugget which I think folks here would enjoy
quote:
Drawing from its success at South Florida, the new staff is confident in its ability to identify hungry, undervalued talent and is willing to let under performing or misaligned players walk.

Yea that was the article, not Ferguson.

Coach Golesh is just feeding the hungry. Y'all need to chill

Went from bragging about having 30 mil to spend on the roster to penny pinching in less than a week.
Thanks to that Hoke article I now expect every impact to good player to hit the portal. We are trying to reinvent the NIL wheel and its not going to work. Players will just go to whoever will pay them and we will be stuck picking up the crumbs. Losing more faith day by day as more info comes out.

The Harsin approach.. it may work in some positions but we better have some 4/5 stars on the OL/DL and in the DB room or we will suck.

Almost every HS player that I have seen the new staff offer has been a 4-star or higher. Melt harder.
