Just like on AUFamily, you have a select few pussies who are clutching their pearls because of the "talent" we lost. That talent has sucked for the most part since 2018. There is ZERO reason to whine and cry about the talent that left. I wish these simpletons would at least wait until something happens during a game to bitch. Or maybe if Golesh allows the inmates to run the asylum off of the field like Freeze. I am far from a sunshine pumper and I will complain when we lose a game or players start getting arrested. Hell, I wanted Gus fired after 2016 after being all in from 2013-2015. I get it that some of you are just playing a role as message board pot stirrer or contrarian. At least one poster on here is butthurt about someone on the previous staff being let go because he/she/it finds something wrong with EVERY player we sign in the portal and comparing them to the "talent" we lost. Gives off worse Mike G vibes than Mike G himself.

There are a shite ton of strawmen in that post.

Womack will be a senior next year entering his third school. His stats were mid for an upperclassman getting to play in 15 games.

Amaris will be a junior next year and should still be in Auburn. Imagine me knighting for some mercenary kid looking for the ole check.

Its both Meta. You have to weigh everything. A 5 star going into his senior year as a likely back up is a bust. He can be decent roster filler and that's fine. I'm not complaining about getting him. I'm just being real about how his career has turned out so far. If we are lucky Faulk or Phillips takes a step forward and lock down the starting job.

There are no strawmen in my argument LOL.

Womack is one year older, big deal. He was playing behind an elite Edge. By all intents and purposes they are similar - hence why the Portal rankings have them ranked incredibly similarly. If you think that Amaris Williams is a huge loss, then by default Womack should be a huge gain. That is the whole point of the player rankings, otherwise why rank players at all?

Also, Amaris Williams is the definition of a mercenary. He signed with Auburn out of HS at the last second after decommitting from Florida because of money, then he announced he would enter the Portal last season after only one season at Auburn, but he pulled back after he got paid to do so. Then after his second season he entered the Portal. This is effectively no different than Womack, the only difference is that we had to pay Amaris Williams to stay on here. Both players have otherwise been shopping themselves for the best deal each year.

Womack is no doubt a huge gain, but Amaris already knew our defense and his ceiling is higher.

He is leaving Auburn yes he is. He is heading to Georgia. Will probably be a great move for him.

I don't care about his rating. He's done next to nothing in 3 years of football and was a back up for Ole Miss last year. Only reason anyone cares about him is he used to be a 5 star recruit in high school. He's decent roster filler and that's it.

He had 27 tackles in 2025 and Amaris had 16......hmmmm

The Portal rankings weigh production, seniority, and perceived "talent" to try to give an overall rating of each player versus their peers. Obviously this has to be all weighted because otherwise how do you rank someone like Deuce Knight who has proven virtually nothing, vs. a Senior QB transfer who may have multiple standout seasons of production?

You say that Womack is a bust, and yet clearly the evaluation services disagree. They have him ranked as the 9th best Edge in the Portal class (that is going by On3 Industry ranking).

Amaris Williams: 92.62 Transfer Rating (On3 Industry)
Deshawn Womack: 92.35 Transfer Rating (On3 Industry)

So the services view these two players as incredibly comparable. Again, this takes into account that one is entering their Senior season, and the other their Junior season.

If you look at On3's solo rankings, they actually have Womack as a 90, and Amaris Williams as an 89. So On3 rates Womack as being better than Amaris Williams lol.

Again, my entire point here is that you need to apply consistent logic. You are jumping through hoops here. Oh, Amaris Williams played behind Faulk! What, did Ole Miss have no elite Edge/DL players? They just barely missed playing for the national championship. The fact that Womack is entering his Senior year and doesn't have a standout season yet also doesn't really prove anything. We just had Keyron Crawford here who was considerably more productive than Amaris Williams was this season, and Crawford had 0 sacks as a Junior at Auburn last season.

One of those should have been in the weight room a whole extra year and got to experience bowl
practices while playing in 15 games last seasom. The other only played in 11 games.

Now you are just being ignorant. He will start and he will be more productive than Amaris, just like he was last season.

And guess what, Kirby Smart is still laughing at what we were paying for 16 tackles of production

Enlighten me to what philosophies that Golesh and Cignetti share and demonstrate in action, not iust words.

Cignetti is a football god. His offense converts on third down, his defense gets off the field on third down, his offense protects the ball, his defense goes gets the ball, and Cignetti doesn't get penalized all to the tune of one of the best in the nation. Cignetti knows what he is doing but that does not mean we know Golesh knows what he is doing.
