We offered a 2024 3* TE Jayden Fortier committed to Arizona State yesterday.

Apparently our favorite transfer QB for the past 3 years, Vandagriff, is really trying to get Freeze to take him. He’s down the list of transfer QBs though.

Vandagriff committed to UK this morning.

That was news from yesterday, so I guess Freeze told him no thanks.

I think it is pretty obvious that the portal can be great for adding depth and filling key holes, but you cannot expect to rebuild a whole roster out of the portal and the #1 priority has and always will be HS recruiting.
There is also a large piece to all of this which is managing your NIL budget and matching that to your realistic on-field expectations for the upcoming year. Teams that are already stocked with high-end talent on their roster, can target a few big name portal guys, spend large amounts of NIL on them, and promise them a chance to compete for championships.
Unless your A&M or a few other schools, nobody has an endless an NIL budget. You are trying to balance that between your incoming HS class as well as distribute that out among all of the different position needs to raise your floor. Auburn is in need of DL, OL, WR's, and DB's from the portal. I don't know if it is reasonable to spend $1M+ on someone like Cam Ward if you can't fill out the rest of your roster around him. I think you have to make some tough decisions on how you distribute your funds to the portal guys you think can make the largest impact and take some fliers on others that might be able to help out from a depth perspective. But even with the portal we will need another year or two imo to get the full roster up to championship caliber.

I haven’t seen anything official but OM has been the favorite since he announced. All the CB’s/RPM, whatever has him going to OM.
Posted on 12/6/23 at 2:39 pm to Beachbum87
Yeah, I have seen the same, but poster didn't make it clear if that was an opinion or that actually happened.
OM is his first visit this weekend, and he may not make it to his scheduled visit to us the following weekend.

No, that was Tommy Trott.
But Fromm has not done shite since he has been at Auburn/. He cant block without getting a holding penalty, drops passes and runs like a Neanderthal.
He got the "big"genes in the family but Jake got all the football genes.
Obligatory mom picture.
