I wasn’t sure on Thorne he appeared to be a much better passer than Robby and I thought our WRs would perform better. So I can take a QB they isn’t a runner if he makes good decisions and throws to the right guys.
Dante Moore isn’t some big time runner.

Yeah this biggest failure was our receivers and our coaches inability to scale back the option routes earlier. Those dudes killed us. We also NEED a QB in this window, and not during summer like last time

Just want to mention that Ward’s 40 time is slower than Thorne’s. But the rumors are both Auburn and Ohio State have an offer out. McCall will probably come cheaper on NIL, so there’s also that.

What's his 40 time and when was it measured?

I don’t care what someone’s 40 time is for a college QB. I look for mobility, feel, and knowing when to take off. I guess you would call it elusiveness in the pocket

I think Thorne ran a 4.73 or something at Michigan St, but he actually looks faster.

I agree. Was curious to see how close it actually was to JT Barrett's. From what i've seen of Ward, he seems to maneuver the pocket pretty well and seems quick enough to keep a defense honest on a zone read. That's why Barrett was so good in the run game. He isn't super fast, but he made the right read an unreal % of the time.
I'd be very happy with Ward. I'd also be fine with some other options and potentially save money for other positions.

4.73 is fast. Koolaid at Bama only runs like a 4.6. He may test higher if he goes pro but he ain’t a burner. Anticipation makes a huge difference. Thorne looks good on scramble and designed runs but pocket presence isn’t great to escape unless it’s out the back door seems he never sees the openings in a mush rush

I don't think I have ever heard 4.7 as being fast before.

These folks that are in high school that say they run a 4.4 most probably run about a 4.8. I ran about a 4.55-4.6 and no one would come close to catching me on the football field. 4.6 is absolutely motoring. You got NFL wideouts that run 4.6 all the time. All those so called 4.4 running backs when they get to the draft run 4.6+. I understand it. Like my high school baseball coach listed me at 6’1” 190 lbs when I went to tryouts and all star events. I was 5’11” about 155

Throne is faster and ten times the runner JJ was.

4.7 is above average for a QB. We've just been spoiled with Nick marshall and Cam Newton running like 4.5 or better. Bo Nix is probably 4.6

Thorne plays faster than 4.7 also. He had 60+ yard run against Georgia, and put up 500+ yards of rushing offense. Dude can run

Greg Rob was considered a freak for running a 4.92.
That is beyond the point as well. If you are at a small school with little talent a 4.7 new kid on the block will look fast. Its all relative.

You’re the only one. We’re talking about Throne and Ward.

He plays slower. On that 60+ yard run, he had a 15-20 yard head start and got ran down.

It’s getting technical, but the 40 is a good test of acceleration… 100m is a better measure of overall speed of an athlete.
Come to think of it, a 10m (or 10y) fly is the best test of an athletes pure speed… but you can’t hand time that.
