It really is ironic the proportion of our RBs which get kicked off the team v. other positions.

Another potential star RB being “let go,” kicked off or allowed to transfer. Son of a bitch. Mike Dyer Roc Thomas Jovon Robinson Kam Pettway ( ? ) Has to be drug related. There’s no way he won’t be healed for the Peach Bowl.

has nothing to do with drugs...Why guess?

He simply would have been SUSPENDED, and we would have known. THat kind of thing doesnt get hidden that easily.

And with a child and wife, and I found out he is 23.His time is running out to get that shot. Best option, go to NFL now...go FA and show them in camp...

I care. And if both are at 100%, I would take Pettway.

If KJ goes early, we're going to be quite young at RB with 2 big games early.

There have been several posts on the Bunker that state wife has been discouraging him from playing due to injury concern and his potential NFL career.

Yes, I realize there's not much film for scouts, but he has a young daughter and the potential payday has a lot of influence over people's decisions.

I don't buy this at all. If he goes pro now he will probably be an undrafted free agent or very late draft pick. He could then get cut or make the team. If he makes the team he is looking at around 475k for one year. If he gets cut, zero. After tax income, that is probably equivalent to about 65k over 4 or 5 years which he should be able to make pretty quickly with an AU degree. No idea what his major is but if he gets his degree, he will have something to make a living for the next 45 years of his life. 475k one year salary is probably like 280k after taxes which is 6 yrs of work with a even a half arse college degree and dude is 23 and has decades and decades and decades and then some ahead of him that he will need money for.

Or he can come back and if he has a great year next year, he could go in a mid round or better. 4th round contract is worth about $3 million and it is a 4 year contract.

If his main consideration is financial, coming back is a no-brainer.

Now, if he isn't gonna play next year, that changes things. But considering he is still on the team and not kicked off, I have to believe he will have that opportunity.

Correction to my post. Looks like an UDFA that makes the cut gets a 3 year contract that is not guaranteed. That changes things a bit.

Still, since it isn't guaranteed I still say taking everything into account, an actuary or someone trying to quantify future earnings for someone in Pettways position would end up with a higher number on the coming back side.

First, there are very few jobs that pay 65k out of undergrad.

Second, you have to remember kids aren’t all that logical.

It seems much more likely based on the rumors about past suspensions that he isn't allowed to play for Auburn anymore and they are keeping it quiet, as they normally do, but in his case it is to allow him an opportunity to go pro.

The idea that his girlfriend thinks he should turn pro and that is why he is doing it is a bit silly. He may have a handler in his ear but nobody believes he is NFL ready with his injury history.

No one is making $65k out of college with a degree in general studies aka university college.

Well, I did say pretty quickly, meaning start around 45k and be at 60-65k within 4 or 5 years with probably another 40 years of work to go. But yeah, I have no real idea what his earning potential may be with whatever degree he would graduate with.

Anyway, I'm more inclined to agree with the previous poster who thinks we are keeping something quiet and he may not be able to return. Anyway, who knows. Hope for the best for him and our program, whatever that may be.

I know tons of people who have graduated in the last decade. The job market is not supporting these kind of wages for new grads unless it is engineering or you lucked into a good internship in the college of business.
