focused on Leath exactly how does he wiggle through all this mess and still keep his job

I'd trade a year of Gus if it meant firing Leath

No chance we make a good hire if Leath is within shouting distance of the hire

PMARSHONAU: Time for urgent action

...It all started last December when president Steven Leath decided it would be a grand idea to give Malzahn a seven-year, $49 million contract and guarantee 75 percent of it. Since that day, Auburn has gone 7-7 overall and 4-7 against power-five teams and Central Florida. What a mess. And I’m not sure anyone in a position of leadership knows how to fix it.......

Auburn administrators have only two reasonable choices after a tumultuous and disappointing regular season: Make a change in head coaches or get fully behind the coach they have. Anything else will doom the football program to mediocrity or worse......

If Malzahn truly wants to be Auburn’s coach for the future, he needs to take a look at himself, too. And it needs to be a hard look.

According to multiple sources, Malzahn has gone further than ever in controlling everything on offense. Position coaches don’t decide who they recruit. Malzahn does. They don’t decide who starts. Malzahn does. They don’t decide who plays at what points in the game. Malzahn does. They don’t decide what they need to work on in practice. Malzahn does. And for much of this season, Malzahn has called plays, whether they came out of his mouth or out of offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey’s mouth.......

No head coach is an expert on every position. That’s why all of them – well, almost all of them – lean on assistant coaches who are experts. It’s too much for one man to do it all successfully.

Chip goes, Kodi promoted to OC, Kodi becomes the new Lashlee. It's just the AU way under Gus.

If Gus is a lame duck coach, I don't see why this would be a bad idea

Because now we sacrifice 2 recruiting cycles instead of just one. If we're already behind bama, uga, LSU, and tamu in talent/development this move will certainly put us on the UT path of irrelevance.

Also explains why we don't go out an hire top flight coaches on the offensive staff. Malzahn can't control them.

Sad. This is much worse than I thought.

What a trainwreck head case he is. I always thought he had that crazy look.

Just wow.

Just heard Chip Lindsey's name mentioned for OC at UT on Knoxville Sports Radio 99.1. Everyone agreed Gus was calling the shots at Auburn and to not hold this year against him. They all thought he would be a good/decent hire.

If I was Chip Lindsay I’d be begging Pruitt to hire me to get the frick out of the dumpster fire we’re in here.

I won't melt no matter who we hire as OC.

Why?

Because the position is as important as a football bat. The guy won't have any real responsibility no matter who it is.

Tommy Tuberville's bitchy self is weighing in. Al.com article.

“I don’t know anyone out there that wants to get into this mess,” Tuberville said. "Do you think Bob Stoops wants to get into this mess? He dropped a better job than this.

Bama was quite similar in 07 until they hired Nick and told them all to get out of the way or go to hell. The right guy can come in here and take charge

Tubs is right. Too many people meddling in the coaches job. PM is spouting booster crap. Our version of Jerry isn't getting to say who plays, what kind of offense we run, so they call themselves 'assistants' now. A fricking booster is not an assistant. This is fact.

Our insiders, maybe it's still Pat Dye, are destroying the program. This is the one thing Saban stopped at Alabama. He gave them a job, build facilities, find and help me get recruits I want, and shut your mouth when it comes to how I do things.

We will never let any coach do this. The fact Gus is on the hot seat Is dumb. Gus brought us 2010 and 2013, none of our previous coaches sniffed it. Dye had Bo Jackson for 5 yrs and couldn't win crap nationally. Can you imagine Gus with Cam for 5yrs....boy.

It's not even close who has won more nationally against much stiffer competition.
