We did our job and went 2-1. You can blame the rest of the conference for this mess

I'll be shocked if we match 7.1, now. This is the epitome of "You could have stopped this".

To act like this is Gus fault is hilarious. He did his damn job and beat them both

It makes me sick to my stomach to see this. The way I see it, what's the point in beating them if we can't finish the deal?

No. He lost the SECCG. I don't disagree he has almost no blame, but you don't pay coaches saban money for unclutch post-season performances.

I don’t think either of those teams has what it takes to win out.

It is what it is... 2-2 vs playoff teams is unbelievable. No one else in country could pull that off.

It’s a testament to what a home field advantage JHS has become.

A&M and a handful of other schools say otherwise.

They'll be regretting the decision.

Someone mentioned earlier every coach to set foot as HC in JHS has gone to the SECCG since its inception.

Gus isn't special.

Money doesn't matter to them. I highly doubt in 6 years they'll be like "damn what a failure". Their piggy bank isn't drying up. Neither is Michigan's and neither will Auburn's if we pay him.

True but how many have been a part of 2 NC runs? Only Gus

No, but he has been recruiting consistently well and has solid assistants. He is worth seeing what he can do with it another 2-3 years. I am not liking the 7 mil but the market is singing right now and a competitor is offering.

I think we need to see if he can take some more steps forward. We could end 11-3 with a nice group of returning players.

Why do people care how much we pay a coach? Nobody here ponies up cash to pay his salary

AU has always been at a huge disadvantage with scheduling. Yes, Bama plays all the same West teams, but they don't play ANY decent East opponents. UT has been garbage for over a decade. Vandy is a superior program now (and Bama seems to play Vandy a lot for some odd reason).

Meanwhile AU gets UGA and Bama back to back and we get both of them on the road the same season. And if by some miracle we win both, we have to go play the east champ the next week. Good fricking luck with that. No team in America would have fared any better than us this year with those 3 games in a row. It's brutal, especially at the end of the year when everyone's banged up.

It was even worse in the 80's when we played UF, UT, Bama and UGA every year. It is amazing Dye was able to win so many SEC titles during that time.

I'd rather let him go if we knew there was a sure fire option out there but chip Kelly is locked up and it's doubtful Gary Patterson will jump ship at this point and those are about the only two I would let him walk for. Giving him a raise and an extension is scary though just based on two games. What if he reverts back to ConservaGus next year and we have another 8 win season? Or what if it's another 10 win season but we're not competitive against UGA and Bama? Beating them this year proved nothing in my opinion. He still makes me nervous and it's hard to have confidence in him.
