He will probably bring a very structured approach however I don’t know him but programs like those mentioned are just run differently than some coach moving up from a tiny program that only has 30 players. If he was at Hoover I’m sure he has the respect of a lot of his peers. If I can I’ll reach out to Andy Urban and see if I can find out some info about him. Andy is the AD at Hoover.
Thanks CorchJay,
as you said he has coached at a couple good schools, i'm sure you are correct.

You’re welcome. That workout program will not be a program to get ripped. He needs to eat during this training then right before fall camp start really running but he will add muscle and deep muscle depth. It’s a full body major muscle group program designed to increase strength. It uses compound movements and he will be strong enough to move into some of the Olympic lifts the strength coach will probably implement once he gets to him. And it’s simple to follow and even has an app to keep track of progress. So have him record his lifts with his phone so you can check for proper technique and form. First few sessions will take about 40 minutes before long he will have that cut down to around 30 minutes or so. Good luck to your son and if he has a partner in crime or even you as Dad a lifting partner is great since he will be pushing himself to failure fairly quickly in the program

They have a lot of good products. I love VTSAX and have had it for over 15 years and it performs really well, and it’s about the cheapest fund to own. She may have a target fund, no clue.

Yeah Jonesy I don’t know. I’m fairly traditional she has only worked when she’s wanted to. We have 4 boys so she had a period of time she liked being mom. But she’s back in the workforce now. Thanks inflation. Plus we own a side business that makes some money on the side. For me it’s all about hopefully not having to eat dog food if I live to be 80 which I highly doubt lol. And maybe being able to hand down a bit to my kids. My oldest is 28 and he and his wife are supposed to start trying to have a baby over the next year or that’s what he said so maybe everything changes if I get a grand baby.

Maudlin is a legend. He spent some time at my alma mater and did well there. Is he still coaching?

He is he is still at Trussville. If I’m not mistaken his son Tyler is a transfer into AU in the baseball team.

After 25 years of service or 60 years old.
It’s good you will still be young enough IF you want to try something else.
It sounds like you have a side business.
IF that is something you enjoy, it may not feel like work.
I’m retiring 1 March 2025. It will be here before I know it.

As a coach head coach 2007.
As a player 1984 & 1985.
And I have one as an assistant coach as well.
That’s all at the high school level.
At the travel ball level which I can’t be named as the head coach ( which I really was) but can help since my son was a player. We won 3 straight state championships, 1 World Series championship, 1 NIT, 1 Super NIT, 1 Cotton States championships were the big tournaments we won.

Congrats Corch on your milestones and time coaching youth. I have a friend in Colorado that coached HS baseball for many years and now has a business as a hitting and fielding trainer. He is doing very well. Does private and team training sessions.
We took my son's youth team to him for batting and that team ended up with only three losses and lost by 2 in the championship game. We mercy ruled several teams that year. It was my one and only year as a head coach for baseball and one of the most fun and rewarding things I did with my son.
He loved teaching the game, but was done with the head coaching aspect and why he transitioned.

It takes a lot of time and a lot of reasoning with parents. I’ve always tried to be honest with the players and parents. I find it best if that’s the case.
I feel like I have impacted the world to be a better place for a lot of these young men I have coached. More rewarding than the wins or championships is for a young man 25 years old to come to the school with a baby. Just to hang out. Or one with a young son or daughter that is starting ball or been playing a couple years and they come by the school to say to their child this was my coach when I played.
I’ve only cried twice on the diamond. Once’s as a player that lost a game. When my sons team won the World Series. I’m sure I will addressing the team after we either lose our or win the championship this year. I hope we win it but not sure I have enough arms to make the deep run required. We could literally beat any team in the state or lose to any in the playoffs. It’s pretty equal this year unless I have just over looked someone on the south side of the state that is much better then I would have expected.

You will now be able to sit in the stands and and second guess every play call.
That is how it is done where I sit.

Amen. Everyone is an expert after the fact. Shoot I second guess myself so I will be great at it from the stands.

I turned down an offer to coach another travel softball team this fall. Told them I didn’t feel like I had the knowledge to coach the older teams. They laughed. And said we all feel that way.
Coaching is for sure rewarding. But it’s a real strain!! I don’t see how you guys do it year after year. No breaks. And on that level
