And he has not caught a pass in college?

He was a top 100 player in the 2022 class and redshirted because OSU had like 4 first round type WR ahead of him.

We have had a couple hit the portal with better CVs than that.

247 had Burton as the #71 player in the 2022 class. He is quite a bit more promising than any of the players we had who left. He didn't do anything at Ohio State because he was a true freshman on a team with like 4 first round picks at WR lol.

The fact that he was recruited by Hartline at OSU is noteworthy by itself.

Understand all that, Im just saying, until he proves it on a college field...even so, he is an upgrade to the room no one can deny it.

Now the kid from MSU or the Texas fella, those I will get excited about.

Fellas we may have a ball club this fall. Least know we have a fightin chance in most games. Hell a long way we have come.

We're see if he shows up. Would be a huge get obviously, but Coleman is an NIL guy.

We have options at WR though. Could definitely see two more guys added there. It's a big need (Mardner has been a flop more or less, although not super surprising given that he was a backup at Cinci).

DeVonta Smith won the Heisman with bama at 6 feet 170. Fingers crossed that Burton is that type of talent.

Wasn’t DeVonta the 12th man.

metafour,

Ohio State had one wide receiver drafted in the first round this year.
"like 4 first round picks" is a bit of a stretch dont ya think? Save your post Ill be happy to discuss when the other 3 are drafted next year in the first round, until then stfu.

Im glad he was ranked in the top 100. Guess what, we need an edge and one just hit the portal, coming out of high school his composite was 96+ far higher than Burton, why dont we go get him?????

Once again, I say, he may be good, but he has not proven it on a college field yet and there are others who have that are also in the portal.

They have two more guys going 1st round next year.

It's hyperbole. The point is that he was stuck on the most loaded WR room in the country.

No, he hasn't proven anything - but the fact that they prioritized and took this kid with no production means something, because they have options at WR. Barring injury, he's a big upgrade on our roster.

That would be with The Jones. He set up the period. I already aired my complaint since it is right when Red Snapper season starts.

Guys Id pump the breakes a little

You can pump your brakes as you wish. Never met a recruit that didn’t have to prove themselves on the field. He’s basically no different than a HS recruit except, he did spend a year under one of the best WR coaches in CFB, at a school that consistently have some of the best WR play.

I think if Freeze is accepting his commitment he see’s something there. Freeze also has a history of recruiting talented WR’s. Pump the brakes? Nah, nothing wrong with showing a little excitement for what appears to be a good pick up.

Might as well pump the brakes no matter who is signed from HS each year, eh?

Do you pay attention to college football at all?

Marvin Harrison Jr is better than Olave, Smith-Nigba, and Wilson. Egbuka will most likely be a first rounder as well. So there’s 3 big time WRs he was behind this year.

Trinidad “pumped the brakes” on the 4*/5* TCU true freshman with snaps and catches

For some reason some of our fanbase thinks we should be getting guys with tons of catches and yards when nothing has been shown on the field yet

We’re in a talent acquisition stage right now. Burton has years to develop

That’s unfortunate. But you’ll manage

It’s as late as possible on the football calendar with recruiting and fall camp.

Also, I better see your catch. Because if you bitch this much and don’t catch shite then you’re going to get it from all angles

I know nothing about Ohio State other than playoffs, their highlights, and water cooler talk.

I feel like a lot of us are probably like that.

So where was he on the pecking order next year? After all, we are thinking ahead.

He was projected 3rd team behind 6th year senior Xavier Johnson in their slot position after spring practices.

That leaves just one spot on the three-deep for second-year receivers Kojo Antwi, Kaleb Brown, Kyion Grayes and Caleb Burton; among them, Brown looks to be the closest to pushing for playing time this year.

I feel like he would be 1st team on tOSU next season but he doesn’t want to wait. He wants to be WR1 now.

Kaleb Brown transferred to Iowa

Top WRs want to go to tOSU. They’ve gotta have elite talent to get there in the first place

All these kids think they’re the exception but not the rule and some transfer. We’re the beneficiary of one of them

He’s not a plug and play guy but we’re also not competing for the west this year. We need WRs that can play now and we’re in on some. But we also need guys to develop since we’ve struck out there. Burton is good for that
