He had several guys run open and double pumped and not throw the ball. Guess the ground is more comfy than a td!

It is remarkable how Hugh can do so well with the high school kids and be so unbelievably inept at the portal. Makes absolutely no sense.

Its easier to sell a vision to a high school kid than it is to convince a man looking for a paycheck.

But to be fair, would you rather stack your roster with talent from the portal or stack them with talent from the HS rankings. IMO, I'd rather take the HS guys and give them playing time and take the lumps.

Smuphy, If it is Beaman that would be a wonderful addition to an already outstanding DL class.

But man oh man would I like to see James Smith come our way, we are some hurtin pups for this fall for interior DL.

during the recruiting process or elsewhere, it seems linemen never get the recognition they deserve.. game is won/loss in the trenches..

after the drought of "bigguns" under Gus & potato, would Love to see us load up on both sides of the line

The 2025 class is looking potentially great on both sides of the line, but we won’t get to enjoy that for another couple years.

Not typically on the LOS. College weight programs turn those boys into men.

Right on cue, Micah Debose is visiting again this weekend.

Fair enough, although we do have some studs that have.

I don’t think Hugh is bad at portal recruiting. I think his goals are different than ours as a fan. And that’s inherently a gamble

He’s not going to empty the NIL coffers AND block positions with transfers to win 8-9 games next year even though we’d gladly welcome 9 wins as fans. He’s going to go all-in another year in HS and start stacking the roster by selling playing time and building a program with top HS classes. And kids are eating it up. Just read the interviews, they want to be part of it.

I think it shows in the transfers we’ve taken too. Last year we took anyone. We needed bodies. Tons of G5 guys as a result. This year was a different approach. Aside from the slot WR from GA State they’re all P5 contributors that don’t block the young, elite HS kids

I’m not defending him or saying he’s wrong. I just see it as a belief that he’s got and it’s a gamble he’s willing to take. I think next year’s transfers could be on a different level as he sees what a roster that’s mostly his high school recruits will look like.

Ultimately I'd like to get to a point where it was primarily HS kids while plucking a guy here or there to fill a gap or position. In a situation like ours I'd like to do both.

Connor Lew and Keldric Faulk are disappointed you have such little faith.

Same. I think we’re another year away from being able to do that, though

Coming with some bad news.

I think RW is committing back to Bama. Still don’t think it’s over.

I think Thorne struggled with it all season. It was almost like he was unsure if he should throw it or not. Maybe he was second guessing the throw or just the guy he was throwing to. He did it a lot though. And took a lot of sacks because of it.

Pretty much. As long as he still takes his OV I like our chances.
