Per 247:
Course this article is from a couple of days ago, given the way the NCAA is changing rules by the hour, who knows

quote:
The last category, and perhaps the most notable, are Alabama's 21 early enrollees. Those players are already with the Crimson Tide. They've enrolled. They're students. They're part of the team. Thus, they can transfer like the rest of the roster.
Say five-star QB Julian Sayin, a California native, is having second thoughts now that Saban is gone? He can enter the transfer portal at any time over the next 30 days and enroll elsewhere without a year-in-residence penalty. Alabama doesn't just have to defend its active roster. It has to defend almost entire 2024 class.

Hayes fawcett is reporting Washington just had a guy enter the portal that signed. Says he will be released from his nli next week. So I don’t if that means they have to grant it or he can go regardless

That guy is still in High School so there is no way he entered the portal.
He’s being released from his NLI next week. He’s not in the portal but he’s allowed to sign a new NLI with a new team.
Either way new signees must get released from their NLI. They can’t just enter the portal unless they spend 1 semester at the school.
From the NLI Website:
quote:
Yes. The basic penalty may be eliminated by asking for and receiving an NLI complete release. If the institution does not grant a complete release from the NLI, you may appeal for a release to the NLI Committee, which may grant a level of relief if extenuating circumstances warrant. There are two NLI penalty exceptions:
quote:
HEAD COACH DEPARTURE: If the head coach leaves the institution or the sports program (e.g., not retained, resigns) before you trigger attendance (full-time enrollment attending classes in a regular academic term) at the signing institution or participate in preseason practice, whichever is earlier, you are no longer bound by the provisions of the NLI. You would need to formally submit an NLI release request if you no longer want to attend the institution due to the head coach departure and the institution must grant you a complete release.
Saban retired after classes started when the early enrollees were already in class.
quote:
ONE-TERM OF ATTENDANCE: If you attend the signing institution for one full-time academic term (e.g., semester or quarter), you can submit an NLI release request and the signing institution must grant the NLI complete release.

Yeah you’re right I was just using portal as slang for going elsewhere since it’s now so common and there is unlimited transfers. I didn’t care enough to see if he was a early enrollee or not.Just was saying it’s possible for new signers to leave

Obviously it’s better than Auburn. Of course, they’ve been under investigation for illegal actions in their NIL.

Damn, I didn't realize he's the all time leading Big 10 passer with 11,256 yards.

Basically, just waiting to see if his waver gets approved for another year of eligibility. He took a couple of kneel downs at the end of a few games at Uat, and he’s trying to get that year back.
