Ryan Williams Quotes( via Clemente)

quote:

Williams said the biggest thing for him was getting quality time with Hugh Freeze and the staff, something that didn’t happen a year ago.

“That was definitely important because there were plenty of recruits here,” Williams said. “I heard coach Freeze say it was around 375 or so. It meant a lot to get some one-on-one time. I talked to pretty much everybody. It was definitely different because I didn’t talk to nobody. It was quite the opposite.”

quote:

“You could just tell, the Auburn family really stood up today,” Williams said. “Especially with Cam (Newton) being here and it being such a big matchup. One of the oldest rivalries, you could really tell the fans cared about this game. It was a close game and you could feel the difference in the air.”

quote:

Williams said days like Saturday only reinforce what Freeze and the coaching staff are preaching at Auburn. That’s something he said is big for him.

“All they need is the playmakers to make plays and they knock off the number one team in the nation.”

He'll return for the IB along with KJ Lacey ( who also visited today)

Ny Carr:
quote:

"It was a great game. They played hard, they battled all four quarters," Carr said. "Just when the big-time moments came, some of the players didn’t make the big-time plays and I mean, just got to do better."

quote:

"Really they were just telling me they need the receivers that are going to make the plays," Carr said. "Perry (Thompson) too, he was just telling me that if we get all the receivers that we’re targeting, it’s going to be a big turnaround. We’re going to make plays."

quote:

"Yeah they’re in my top of my top schools. Like top five schools," Carr said.

quote:

Freeze specifically has been a big factor in his recruitment.

"He texts me every day," Carr said. "He’s a big part of my recruitment. Just as far as relationship-wise, we’ve got a good relationship. I feel like a priority to them."

Laquan Robinson:
quote:

“It’s a great environment and a great coach,” Robinson said. “I feel like we can go somewhere with this. Today was real important. That showed those guys will fight. He’s got some things up his sleeve.”

quote:

“I think I fit perfectly in the backfield,” he said of what he sees from Ron Roberts’ defense.

quote:

“They are top three,” he said. “All my life, my family and my dad were big Auburn fans. It really meant a lot bringing him up to see that.”

quote:

“My family have been Auburn fans ever since I was born,” he said. “What I saw today was great. It was just little mistakes.”

He'll OV for the IB

Atmosphere was all we could ask for recruiting wise. Stadium was great. Was good to show fight. Also, very easy to recruit off of a game like that. Very easy to sell how close we are.

LJ McCray:
quote:

"I thought the game was amazing," McCray said. "I thought the atmosphere was cool and those guys played hard. It was lit. It was a pretty good experience, especially for it being my first game at Auburn."

quote:

"I feel like those guys played as hard as they could," McCray said about the defensive line. "I feel like If they had a few more guys, with a little bit deeper depth they could’ve came with this win, honestly."

quote:

What did the visit to Auburn do for the Tigers' chances?

"It definitely — getting up here and getting another chance to see Auburn it was just — I know I’m making my decision soon so wanted to see them again," McCray said.

quote:

"I mean, Auburn’s always been in it because of the relationship I have with Coach (Jeremy) Garrett. I feel like they’re going in the right direction," McCray said. "He’s a great guy. Not only just coaching-wise but off the field he believes in some of the same things that I do and just the principles of being a great person."

quote:

The most important factors as he heads into a decision?

"Really just my gut feeling and where I feel like the right place is for me," McCray said.

Zaquan Patterson:
quote:

"This game, I don’t know what it was, I was just more hyped for this game," Patterson said. "They played a hell of a game, I can’t even be mad that they lost it."

quote:

"It was a great visit. Got to see a lot and what they have to offer," Patterson said. "Defensively I feel like they played a great game and put the offense in situations where they could win the game but unfortunately, they didn’t."

quote:

"Yeah absolutely. Coach Zac has stayed in contact, Coach Freeze too," Patterson said. "Auburn I feel like — besides Miami – they communicate with me the most... They still going to be in the race no matter what. Just because I committed doesn’t mean they’re going to back away like some schools like Michigan did."

quote:

"I feel like I’d play more of the star position — the rover position," Patterson said. "Tonight I feel like they had a little bit of trouble with Brock, I cover the tight end all the time so I feel like I’d be able to help them in that sense."

More recruit reactions(from on3):

Amir Jackson:
quote:

“It was great. They didn’t get the outcome they wanted, but I could tell they’ve been working hard. I loved the atmosphere. I didn’t think Jordan-Hare was that big. It’s crazy. The fans and the atmosphere were crazy.”

Kahlil House:
quote:

“I enjoyed it. Both teams really got after it. Auburn looked really good. The offensive line was coming off the ball and making blocks. The offense was flowing. It was great. I’ve never had a bad time at Auburn. I’m glad I came.”

2025 Recruits:

4* QB Antwann Hill:

quote:

“The atmosphere was great. It was great to be back here. I haven’t been back in years. To see it again in full action, the atmosphere was great. They couldn’t get it done. Like Coach (Hugh) Freeze said, Georgia just made more plays than them. He just has to find a couple more pieces to fill in those gaps so they can be great.”

4* OLB Jared Smith:
quote:

“The visit was great. The atmosphere was great. The crowd was into it. Auburn kept it a close game. Nobody thought they would, but they did.”

4* RB Alvin Henderson:
quote:

“Auburn showed today that they can compete with one of the best teams in the country. I like how they ran the ball.”

4* OL Cortez Smith:
quote:

“It was a great game. It was crazy.”

4* DL London Merritt:
quote:

“It was a good game. They played very well. Georgia is a very good team, so I’m surprised how well (Auburn) played. The atmosphere was great. It was loud and very electric. I would love to play in front of that many people.”

Auburn isnt getting credit nor love on the highlight clips. Which is unfortunate for our recruiting efforts. Only Brock and then there is the Payton interception. I am pretty sure a commentator said Thorne's name in the same way Seinfield said "Newman."

The announcers were only wanting to talk about Georgia being so good they can just turn it on whenever they need to. They will end up getting beat and it sucks we are not the program to collect that scalp.

Every recap I’ve seen has been the same 3 uga plays and them trailing most of the game is a footnote. I get they won and the recap should reflect that but at least tell the whole story.

The outcome was tough, but never expected our last possession of the day to be with a shot at tying the game. Besides a win, recruiting wise we couldn't have asked for a better game. We can promise kids playing time, in competitive games, against the best teams in the country after today. Now sell each kid on the idea that they would have been the one that got us over that final hump.

In an unrelated note, is anyone else enjoying the Deion hype losing all the wind in the sails?

All this Poker Dough. We may not agree always, but in a Jedi-mind trick way, this game could possibly help more in defeat than with a dub. It's the "IF ONLY......!?!?" thing and we can use that with EVERY SINGLE recruit at any position. That's the half full / silver lining, but I can see it. Kudos to the crowd and being loud. I know how impressive and remarkable that can be.

It’s a good thing there were a lot of studs there to see it in person then.

I agree that a loss, in a screwed up way, may actually help in that sense. But being an Auburn fan in Georgia, I needed a win damn it. We will get there.

It hurts my soul too, but I feel comforted knowing that the kids are smart enough to know this. I'm telling you guys losing sucks, but we accomplished something positive today. Before the season I simply wanted us to compete and create a fantastic atmosphere, and we did that.

We have to continue the entire season. Like next home game needs to be packed and insane. May not have the massive numbers we had today but never know when you make that lasting impression on a ‘25 or ‘26 kid.
