Visiting Auburn this weekend.
Apparently Miami/FSU ahead of us
Encouraging that he didn’t just outright flip the FSU but it seems like, unless there’s an unforeseen NIL curveball in play here, that Auburn is behind by a bit

Yes

To be honest, FSU has these croots impressed.
Norvell's talking about the standard he wants out of FSU and so far, he's achieving it. Croots are absolutely buying it and I can't blame them.

FSU is running circles around us right now on and off the field.

Running circles around us on the field without question. I think recruiting is closer than we think, pending how this class finishes out.
We had a better class than them last year while flipping Faulk from them in the process. They’re quite clearly ahead of us right now in 2024 with all the momentum you’d want. But Norvell, while recruiting well, has lost top guys every cycle at the finish line for one reason or another. Interested to see if this is the year he puts it all together. Certainly, landing Carr would help cement it

I like FSU as a comp because it shows what’s possible for us with the right personnel at key positions
247 recruiting rankings:
2024:
Auburn: 14
FSU: 6
2023:
Auburn: 18
FSU: 19
2022
Auburn: 21
FSU: 20
2021
Auburn: 19
FSU: 23
2024 stands out but otherwise it’s been about the same. FSU has more dudes in this ‘24 class, they’re slightly more top heavy. Even still, auburn has the higher average ranking. It’s probably even if we throw out their kicker
They had a decent 2022 transfer class, otherwise we’ve done better there too. If you hit on QB you can compete with these classes. If you don’t, you can’t. Probably extends some to the OL and WR rooms too, but that’s the take home message I think

Their transfer portal the last two yrs are phenomenal. Seems like they hit on everyone.

Norvell is good in the portal but Hugh is too and ranked right next to each other this past cycle.
I think you will see our talent level and play elevate each year moving forward. Norvell is ahead at the moment because of time on the job by 3 seasons.
His first year 3-6 and 2nd year 5-7
Third year 10-3.

They definitely got the better deal out of the Michigan St sweepstake. Payton Thorne's former WR is performing well over there.

Right, that’s what I was trying to point out. They’ve hit on some of the key things more than just raking in overall talent

I dont know if you guys heard Walker White when he called into Auburn live on Sunday. His official visit is this weekend, he said he is more there to make the other visitors comfortable...like Ny Carr, than the official.
Sure he has a vested interest but it sure is nice to see he is serving up his services to try and bring some of these last pieces home in the high school class.
This was an interview on Sunday and he talked about the Carr visit as if everyone already knew he had decommitted that day, interesting.

After 12 years in this site they finally changed my name. Hallelujah.

Hugh said this was going to be a pretty damn big recruiting weekend.

Norvell has also had more time to get things going. They are not that far removed from a loss to Jacksonville St. If Freeze had or does lose to an FCS team not many will give him the chance that Norvell has had.

I think we get 2 commits this weekend, but I’ve been burned a few times lately.

I also submitted a name request, they're gonna take 20 years to do it, if they do it at all
