Yep. NIL was a problem because they weren’t doing anything because they weren’t committing to Harsin.

do think we got beat for Coleman, Franklin, and Patterson. I think that’s also somewhat out of our control. Ole Miss and Miami have worse classes than us and both have struck out a lot, they found local guys they could compete with us in and we got beat.

Yep, we are spreading it around too. Is what it is. We need a lot of talent and we are just going to get beat for some. Hopefully a good season may sway one or two back in our favor.

Again, I don’t doubt we are lacking on fan subs considering the crap we’ve had to deal with recently. Those numbers will increase with success.

The problem is to have success you need to have money to land elite recruits. We don't have many elite players on our roster right now. We're not about to rip off a 10 win season. The vegas over/under is currently 6.5. We're in all likelihood heading for another middle of the road season.

The biggest thing holding us back right now is the unknown of product on the field. Plain and simple. We are in such a massive hole from the past few years, I’m pretty amazed we are where we are

Not sure why this gets minimized

But here we are. I’ve said all I can say. I’ve been covering recruiting here and at other sites for 15 years. I didn’t love Freeze. But we’re headed in a good direction

Nothings fixed yet. We’re not at the finish line. There’s so much left to complain and gripe about. I just find it disingenuous that there’s guys here at their wits end now after playing dumb the last handful of years

But I was young once too and remember that fire

Nah they just have endless pockets apparently

I do too. The reality that schools are going to have to face is budgeting for a class and I suspect most will have their 2-3 guys that they are willing to pay big, big for and that coaches would go to boosters to allocate more money, but after that is where NIL will be the biggest factor. Coaches will have to decide the guys who are worth tweaking the budget for and that is going to be different players for our staff than it will be for Georgia, Miami, and every other team.

Miami is 15th on 247 and we are 16th.

They have 13 three stars, have an avg player rating 2 points lower than ours which a lot, and have 5 more commits than us.

You love to use the “they’ll add more commits” when it fits your woe is me schtick but conveniently ignore it when the shoe is on the other foot

Correct we are not about to have a 10 win season but expectations this year are so low that you can easily sell excitement for the future with a 7 or 8 win season.

If I’m not mistaken each year is allocated around $13m for all sports at AU a year.

We need that to support all the major sports plus softball and gymnastics to be almost double that.

Yes that’s a shite ton of money.

We’re 8th in the SEC and this board is content.

I’m sadly right, Auburn fans are content with mediocrity. This board should be calling out the fanbase for having less than 3,000 OTV subscribers.

Instead we’re good with the mindset of “maybe next year.”

Quality of wins will matter too. Maybe dropping a game in wtf/heartbreaking fashion, but coming back strong and taking down one of the big dogs in an exciting back and forth game to get some swagger back and momentum going.

It’ll be tough, but winning one of @ A&M, Georgia, @ LSU would go a long way. That’s a tough early season stretch that’ll deflate the season if we go 0-3 but carry some nice momentum if we can snag one.

Hell yeah brAUther. Jones since you’re a mod, can we remove board access for everyone and only restore it when they show a pic of their OTV sub with them holding a gov ID and their face next to it? Stidham can kick us off.

I mean that's an insanely low number to me if that's accurate

However, if people are already donating to the school, doing season tickets, TUF donations, tailgating, parking passes, traveling, etc

I imagine the immediate response to "hey give us free money to pay kids to play football" is a hard NO
