I think, just based on the JC tape I have seen of Smith, that he has better top end speed and is quicker. I think he is far more likely to take one to the house or even just a big return.
I completely agree that being able to handle the punts without muffing them is the most important part of the position and if the coaches feel Davis is superior in that regard then I have no problem with him back there.

I don't know that I would say Smith is quicker than Davis. Davis' stop and start ability is very impressive.

Tre Mathews is healthy has been for about 2 weeks
Jovon is a big tough runner but still learning the offense
Kerryon will play but they plan to bring him on slowly. He's already shown flashes
Maurice Swain has gotten better since spring. "He'll definitely help us this year"
Young corners are going to play.
A lot of juniors on the team are stepping up as leaders.

Just read a transcript from Tiger Talk ( LINK) and it said AU will conduct walkthrough at Jordan-Hare instead of the dome.
