He was hardly asked to run the ball. I think it was on purpose too. Don't worry so much. You will be back later to tell me how smart I was when I said JJ will surprise many with his running ability. You will be one of those many.

Take a deep breath bruh

We will defiantly have a strong run game, that is a Malzahn trademark. But i think it will not be the zone read like recently. We will go back to 2009ish run game with the counter, the power, and we will see the buck sweep again. Tate and Dyer used to fill it on that play.

But so help me 6 lb 3 oz baby Jesus if we see the bubble screen for no gain again, I'm going to melt so hard.

I'm not worried about JJ ability to run the football. I think he will be pretty decent running atleast enough to make teams respect his legs and that is what opens other things up. I'm more worried about him taking hits. Cam was cam and nick Marshall even when it looked like he was going to get demolished was good at making it impossible to get a good lick in him. I would hate to lose JJ arm cus he gets banged up running the ball

I think we will still see the zone read on occasion with JJ.

That's silly. Bubble screens are one of the most important plays in a run based spread offense, because -successful or not- they are designed to remove defenders from the box. A bubble screen for no gain allows for a a draw play for ten on the next play. It's smart football.

I cringe every time I see definitely spelled as defiantly.. two words with totally different meanings. Just as painful as seeing the misuse of they're, there, and their.

I watched JJ his senior year of high school completely embarrass and run all over an Auburn High School defense which has about half of its starters now playing DI football somewhere. That includes a linebacking corps of Reuben Foster and Rashaan Evans.

He can, and I assume will, run the ball. I seent it.

I watched that game as well and he looked great. I hope you are correct about him being able to do that now.

Why the hell would he not be able to do it now?...
just because he hasn't so far in very limited PT doesn't mean he can't.

Cause just maybe the competition is a little better in the SEC than Auburn High School.

My point is, he has run the ball much in his short time at Auburn and when he did, he looked uncomfortable. Thats it

Just wait and see what happens. Everyone just take a step back and dont take every comment on this site personally

“It’s 10 times more physical, and I like it,” said Williams, a former 5-star signee out of Mobile’s St. Paul’s Episcopal who is competing with senior Kris Frost at weakside linebacker. “You have to be physical in this league. Last year we kind of lacked at that. This year we are going to be much stronger.”

Level of competition has little baring on someone's ability to run... you either have that athletic ability or you don't.

Johnson was a legit div 1 basketball recruit as a small forward.... I don't think anyone's sayin he's cam newton or Nick Marshall.... but he'll be effective.

It may be different this year because it's Muschamp, but I feel like we hear this every year and every year we see the same hot garbage on D.

He's got like 11 official runs in his time here, and probably 4-5 of those were protection breakdowns rather than real runs. How is that enough to show anything? Even then he's got like 11 runs for 40 yards, which isn't that far off of Marshall's 5.2 yards a carry from last year.
