Had a discussion with my dad at lunch today, and opinions were divided:
What's the best barbecue place in Auburn/Opelika?
I say Byron's, he says Barbecue House.
What say the Auburn Board?

Barbecue House is the best, but I'll eat at Byron's from time to time as well.

The chicken at Byron's is what puts it at the top for me. More variety.

Byrons is my personal favorite, followed closely by Mike & Eds (cubed).... M&E might actually get the edge b/c they offer a 'big sandwich'... something Byrons doesn't.
I never cared for Barbeque House... overrated, IMO... and gets by on location. I was in Building Science, so just about every morning we'd walk to BH and eat breakfast... the breakfast is good, but the BBQ is alright.
I didn't care for the Chucks in Auburn... never eaten at the real one in Opelika.

I don't think the one in Auburn was owned by the same family as the one in Opelika.
I know it wasn't by the time it closed, anyway

I like M and E, but Byron's is right there for me as a close second. Went down to Hatch, NM for a chile festival. Ate at a lace called Sparky's. had one of the best pulled pork sandwiches ever, and I have been to a lot of different que throughout this country.

I really don't care for any of the BBQ in Auburn. If I have to pick a place, it would be M&E's.

People rave about Chucks but I think it is completely average.
I love Barbecue house for a mixup because they are the only one who does shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches. Their location though is the only reason people love them so much. Good breakfast too
Mike and Eds, Byrons, Moe's BBQ, BBQ House, Chucks IMO

I've grown up going to Byron's. I remember back when they were in the little shack about 100 yards from their current location. You had to stand in line which usually went out the back door. They'll always be the place I go for BBQ in Auburn.
