God, we're such a fricking joke on defense. How did we even get to the point that Grantham's name is even mentioned for a job at AU? Used to be you could always count on Auburn to have a good stout defense. AU-LSU used to be the slug fest of the year in the SEC. Hell, even 2008 had a good defense.... Now we're a fricking laughing stock on that side, ever since Gus put his Midas touch on the program. We can't even pull in alumni or get coaches from directional schools. And how could you blame them? We keep bringing in DCs that have been good to elite at every other stop, but somehow everybody fails here now? I would say frick Muschamp for screwing us over but again, can't blame him for jumping ship first chance he got.... Might as well call up Opelika HS's DC because nobody else seems to want the job. This is ridiculous.

I've been a firm supporter of Gus all year. I've said no way he should be on the hot seat even next year. A lot of great coaches struggled early on, and I thought once he got things rolling he could be a steady long tenured coach.
But this coaching search has me seriously questioning his ability to run a program at this level.
And it really has been ever since he stepped on campus that the defense has been dog shite. I don't buy that it's his offense like the rantards say because he runs a lot and likes to control the clock, and Clemson had the #1 defense in CFB last year with a knockoff of his offense. But at this point it has to be a problem with the culture on that side of the ball. Maybe it's something that started with Chizik and Gus picked up. Maybe it starts higher with the AD and the boosters that Tuberville pushed away in his tenure.... I don't know, but I'm tired of this shite.
