He has multiple years left on a contract. Why would Greene need to make a public statement? Can you cite any information for your theory that is not a message board post?
Dude, you have Josh Pate over at 247 and other columnists talking about this all over Twitter, Youtube, etc. for weeks now about his job being in uncertainty. Our competition has baked this into the mind of every recruit as well, and rightfully so. First off, this didn't materialize out of thin air - the "fire" is real. If you want to act oblivious, then go ahead - but know that Gus already used up so many lifelines that even before this shitshow season he possessed at most "split" support. He has lost virtually all support of the recruiting backbone that fuels this program this season.
The reason why a public display of confirmation is pivotal is obvious: OPTICS, OPTICS, OPTICS. If no one says anything to confirm otherwise, then how exactly is his job secure? The reason why no one has said anything YET is because his job most certainly isn't secure, and we're still mulling the decision over.

Again. I hope I am wrong. However, if you are basing your opinion on AU bloggers and insiders; you will be disappointed.

Upon checking the Gus Bus the tires are shredded, it has no oil, and the engine is shot.

I look forward to your take on other subjects.
I dont know what this is about, but so be it. Until then, Gus dominates the conversation. Just like after 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. It’s quite the pattern.

I understand the position that you are taking - "blah blah insiders are all BS don't believe anything", but think about this objectively and try to convince me why his job WOULDN'T be in jeopardy. His arse has been hot numerous times over these past 7 years and people are over the whole "I'll fix it next year" schtick which he's burned about 3 times now. Our recruiting looks how it does because the support network is done - they're over this shite show completely. The staff itself is not in any way, shape, or form in unity.
The fire is absolutely real. I don't even understand what your argument is: we have done nothing this season to convince anyone with any power that this is going well, or that it will improve next year or in the foreseeable. So why would his job be secure? The only argument one can make is the "COVID money loss" stance which is BS once you understand that buyout money like this comes from a separate fund and has nothing to do the athletic budget, and that the people who would fund the buyout most likely made money because of COVID - not the opposite. His buyout has been broken down multiple times - keeping him for a year longer does virtually nothing to save any money.
Now we're sitting here with ~12 commitments and signing day approaching, rumors swirling all over the internet, and you think that our AD doesn't need to do or say anything to confirm the job status of our lame-duck HC? Wrong - entirely. If his job wasn't in question, then the rumors would have been put to rest by now. The reason why they haven't been put to rest is the same as it was for Texas until their AD came out and made a statement yesterday: a decision has not been made yet. Texas WAS courting Urban and they couldn't reach an agreement. Once that happened, their AD confirmed Herman's employment going into next season. One way or another you will see the same thing at Auburn IF Gus gets to keep his job. The fact that that hasn't happened yet proves entirely that his job is anything but secure - and why the frick would it be after a 6-4 season?
Also - think about what exactly happened when Gus made those asinine "we're having a solid season" comments and then backpedaled completely the next day. Someone who's job was secure wouldn't feel the need to retract that statement, for obvious reasons.

By the way - Illinois just fired Lovie Smith. Arizona State canned Sumlin. South Carolina, Vandy, etc.
The idea that COVID is going to secure his job has been thoroughly debunked by other programs operating as if nothing has changed. The buyout money is a complete non-issue.
The only thing keeping him here right now is a lack of leadership and unified direction.

If we are keeping him, so be it. But the school needs to come out with a show of support and statement to squelch the rumors of him losing his job
It'd help recruiting

OK, we had a coach named Shug ...
Lovie Smith just went on the market. Illinois just fired him.

I expect that tonight. Greene doesn't have authority to release it on his own so needs to get it all approved first.

I have zero faith in the leadership at auburn to do the right thing.
The overwhelming majority of our issues as a University are self-inflicted. And I’m not referring solely to our ineptitude in the Athletic Department.

Part of me wants us to create a new one since this one has 800 replies already with much of that being nothing but speculation with Malzahn still being Hc
