The Tom Herman situation sure makes it scary to hire and fire a coach, and go in a different direction. That dude was seen as a can’t miss, slam dunk hire by everyone. He’s about to be fired after 3.5 years.

It’s not like Herman dragged them into the ground. He had a winning record every year, he just couldn’t get them to championship level.

Wish our bitch arse leadership would move on as quick.

This is a dumb argument. So we need to not look at folks Gus lost to because they are apparently better?

Cristobal also lost to Oregon state if it makes you feel any better. Also Peterson basically quit on Washington and was washed up by the time he left. He’s also never coached in the southeast, so there’s some more for you

Yeah, and Saban lost to Western Kentucky. Remember how in year one that game confirmed to all of us that he was overrated and that Bama was going to continue being a joke? He also lost to Gus - multiple times. Urban Meyer lost to Tuberville.

Every single coach on the planet has lost games that they shouldn't have lost - to inferior teams. The idea is to land a coach that has a 10 year vision of what the program is going to look like and a plan for how to get there and maintain it. You're never going to find a coach that wins every game they should win.

I would've loved to had Peterson once upon a time, but you're right. He lost his passion. You could tell.

And I love how a 3-point loss on the road in a RIVALRY game is supposed to be some sort of "smoking gun" that these idiots laugh about as if they're making some sort of hot take. Strange things happen on the road in rivalry games - kinda like how Bama walked into our stadium as the favorite last season and lost with a much better team. Shaun Shivers even ran a guy over.

Mario Cristobal has lost 7 games now at Oregon since being the full-time head coach. One thing to note is that apart from the 2018 loss to Arizona, every one of those losses was by one possession. That marker is typically what signifies a good coach - its not NEVER losing, its having your team in position to win every single game.

Dude, we get it. You're driving the Gus Bus.

That's fine, just don't expect a lot of passengers any more. Certainly not at these prices.

As I posted over on tRant, our best case is if Gustav has a great year next year and Sexton pawns him off on another school. We aren't firing him.

I am not necessarily advocating for Cristobal, but I am curious if you would be a able to name a coach who:

A. Has never lost to a team less talented than theirs
B. Has coached in the southeast
C. Has never lost to Gus

Like genuinely I want you to name a coach that has all of these qualities. You shoot down almost all names people bring up. So lets say Auburn could have ANY coach in the country, who would you pick? Remember though, it cannot violate any of the rules we have already set. Saban has lost to Gus and less talented teams so he's disqualified. Dabo has lost to less talented teams and lost to OC Gus so he's out.

So lets say you can pick ANY coach, who do you pick?
