This will be the first year in many many years we won’t go to a game.
Feels odd.

Sorry to hear that. I still have both my parents. My dad will be 76 next week. He is a tough SOB but he has lived hard.

Spent some time with him yesterday at and after the funeral. Makes me feel old.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Sipping on some cold ones now, deer hunting in the morning and outta the woods to tie a couple on before kickoff tomorrow.

God I love the south.

Hoping college football will right the ship from this 6 month crazy world we’ve all been living in.

I was talking to this old hag that is retiring soon and she was talking about taking care of her mother. This woman is so old that she hired in and has federal Civil Service retirement plan which ended in 1987, but yet she still has her mother. I’m jealous of those that are fortunate to live long lives with their parents around.

I am very lucky to still have both my parents. And they are still very active. My father has lived a tough life the last 30 years meaning surgeries and medical issues but he is still kicking, goes fishing 3 days a week and hangs with his friends everyday.

My wife has lost both her parents now. She told me yesterday that it felt odd knowing that she didnt have a living parent now. She still has one brother and me of course but I can understand what she was talking about.

We are all going to go sometime. Lets live it up till then. Go out in a blaze

I have a guy who we travel with and I wanted to get a bottle for him. I had never tried it and we were headed to Lake Hartwell for a few days to fish so I thought I would take a bottle. Asked 4 places near me and only one had a bottle. They jacked the price way up so I passed.

Two of the places said they had not been able to get a bottle all year. Weird. Supply and demand not working so well with that.

This is my retirement dream. Being active enough to do whatever I want. Life throws curveballs though and your dad seemed to be able to manage them to be considered reasonably active given his age. My wife’s grandad just passed away in January. He was a great athlete. Believe it or not he played basketball for his job in the Air Force. The government would ship him out to Japan and Korea or whatever just to entertain the troops. He also got CFB offers when he got back. But man he had an awful retirement. His knees were shot, multiple heart surgeries. and the last 5 years he was mostly restricted to his chair and dependence on others.

I knew one person that refused to retire for whatever reason as well.. He died of a heart attack before retirement. I won’t be that guy. I hope everybody gets to enjoy their earned retirement.

Just remember retirement and working are not two different things.

Because I want to be working hard at having one hell of a good time.

I agree Jang. It’s the reason I have been working towards slowing down. My goal was at 55 to slow down. I’m close.

I’d like to keep going a few days a week after all this is over with and be able to relax, fish, play some golf, etc the rest of my weeks. Saving has not been easy either.

I don’t want to die working and I don’t want to die sitting in a bed because I was too unhealthy to live.

I have some work to do in that department.

2 cases if Busch Light, bag of limes, pack of smokes.

Son's first ever contact football game cancelled due to field conditions from the storm, so made no plans, and don't see where the Alumni Club has a watch party. Watching alone on the back porch most likely.

Went to downriver nationals in '08 it was my first (and only) time. Think mid-summer sweating in canoes while plodding along as hard as you can. You get there early to hang and learn the course. So early in the week this 70 (someodd) year old comes up wanting to bet. Said he'd wax my boat if I beat him; and I'd do the same.... so sure... I'm game - hell I'm in my fifty's. Wasn't long before folks kept coming up and asking if I bet George. Most every one before the race came and left laughing (and shaking there heads). It was an open joke.

I want to be like George

He didn't get me. But it was close, too close, and he'd gotten everyone of them along the line. Had dinner with him after wards, telling tall tales, real spry, and no I didn't let him wax my boat (no one needed to see that).

The last 4 years the Blanton's has had small batches, angles cut has been heavy.
