just stop. It's a year and three pass plays..........for a fifth year senior. Some here just keep making excuses for poor QB play. There has to come a time when you actually put fault on the QB. One game he looks like he gets it.........the next four he still looks lost.

No- don’t get me wrong- I totally agree. I saw it with my own eyes. Thorne was baaad. I think i was coming from the CHF perspective of why he won’t make the change- what his coach speak will be as the reasons why.

Ah yes, keep defending the triple pump chump.

He’s not good, bro. There’s more than enough tape to prove that without having to watch the last weekend’s debacle.

I am not advocating for one or another but what I saw on Sat was Freeze let Thorne play a full game to see how he adjusts if he does at all. So it’s a positive that he didn’t pull him out at the half or at the end of 3Q and gave him the full benefit of the doubt against a non-SEC team. Yeah others struggled too but the QB is supposed to elevate the team in these situations especially against teams with lesser talent. I suspect he will be on a short leash against New Mexico and he will be pulled the first egregious mistake he makes. If he does, put in Hank, the season is in the tank anyway.

Please tell us why you deserve perfection from a QB so far lowly down we were desperate to get Thorne.

The problem, in my view, is that does not help prepare him at all for SEC play. He could determine exactly who he is going to throw to and those guys will likely be open.

I don't hate the guy, but if it has not slowed down for him yet, these "cupcake" games will not help. At the very least we should try the backup.

I completely understand that Thorne has had the same issues since he arrived at auburn. I believe freeze himself was concerned about him making the wrong reads and he stated that multiple times. It appears he's still making similar decisions this year.

If we don’t have it figured by end of New Mexico, Petrino will boat race and embarrass us at home. I don’t know what we are going to do about the secondary, we really suck there and in general pass defense, screens and short, intermediate routes. No matter what happens or what changes we make, we are going to get destroyed by Georgia, Bama, A&M and Missouri. We need Offord real bad and other stud DBs in the next cycle.

CHF said as much in the post game i heard after Alabama A&M about Thorne making the wrong reads. It was there, apparently, in game one but with lesser consequence.

List your QB accomplishments

Ok so none of us are allowed to criticize anything unless you played D1 football.

Also this being the response to him using Aaron Murray’s breakdown is pretty funny. Aaron Murray has plenty of accomplishments.

Here is the deal right now. Thorne is not a good QB.
If we had a better QB (don’t think we do right now) we would for sure improve. Would it be enough? No, because I think we have Freeze offense problems as well.

Things are not great on offense side.

Here is what has transpired. We got Gus in 2013 and his offense lit it up the first two years. Then it got figured out and stale.

Then, in 2021 we got potato and he had an old tired potato offense from 2008. And he couldn’t recruit.

Now we have Hugh with his ground breaking offense from 10+ years ago that is now tired and stale.

College ball changes much faster now. Coordinators adjust to things at a much faster level than the old days. We are not innovative.

Will recruiting and getting a better QB help? Yes.

Will it be enough? I don’t think so.

I think what you need right now is a head coach that is neither an offensive or defensive guy. Just a guy that recruits and knows what to do in the heat of a game and how to motivate. Need to get innovative coordinators and let them do their thing. Have faith in them and stay out of the way. Replace them every three or four years if they get stale, or hopefully are good enough the get a HC gig.

If the other issues are not addressed what is the difference between Hank and Thorne playing?

Only specific thing I can imagine is that Hank seems to throw quickly and decisively.

If route concepts are messed up and receivers are loafing that sounds like a recipe for disaster, though.

Freeze has also said no QB is particularly close to Thorne regarding decision making. That should resonate with you if you dont like his decision making.

And yet, Bocephus scored a perfect 100% on his RPO decisions week 1.

I was screaming that at my tv during the game. He holds the ball too long!
