Auburn boosters/leadership won’t listen. We’ve done this before with Chizik.

Unless somebody can find a KS connection to Sandusky or Art Briles this is going to be shoved down everyone’s throats

StatTiger posted a while back that Gus was our winningest football coach, when our coaching records are adjusted for ranking of competition. The program did indeed go stale, but you don't fire that to hire Steele. It doesn't matter how it turns out --- Auburn is done, on principle.

This is a solid point. When this is all said and done, I hope we are able to look back positively at Gus and everything he has done for the program over the last decade. His offense brought a championship and took us to another one. We recruited better than we historically ever have under him. His players loved him and never quit on him. He had no losing seasons in any year he was affiliated with the program and held his own as good as anybody could against Alabama while they are in the middle of one of the greatest runs in college football history.

I 100% agree that it got stale. We had hit our ceiling with Gus and had to move on. I honestly appreciate that we let him go a year earlier than I thought it would happen. We are clearly making the statement that 8-4 is not good enough, SEC title runs every few years is not frequent enough, top 12 recruiting classes aren't getting it done, and we have to be better against the best teams in the country (who happen to be our biggest rivals and division foes). Hiring Steele doesn't support any of that. This needs to be a homerun hire.

Didn’t Allen Greene come to the rescue and talk our idiot administrators from firing Bruce pearl?

Make your voices heard. We have to be like the Tennessee fanbase when they got schiano to not be the one. Be loud and be heard. Tweet. Call. Email. We are the last line obviously.

So, are we waiting until a major news outlet breaks that we are finalizing negotiations with Kevin Steele (in TN's case it was USA Today), or do we just go on and head toward Toomer's?

Well gents it’s been fun while it lasted, because if it’s Steele we are going to lose a quarter of our fan base, on top of loosing mega money from fans boycotting the hire. Gonna be a bumpy ride.

I know Rane has been around fiddling forever and Harbert was a Gus support but I never heard he was much of a meddler as opposed to doing what a BOT member should do. So not sure why Harbert has come into this spotlight because that's never been his MO
