"Search Committee" is just window dressing to get through the hiring process requirements. Its a complete show. They'll stamp off on whoever the BOT has decided on.

I think we would settle on this guy.

Mark Hudspeth

He kicked arse at UNA. I think he has a problem with banging coeds, if you consider that a problem.

He's been flying under the radar for a few years. I legit thought he didn't work at Auburn anymore until I read his name in that tweet.

My two cents...we were smart to go ahead and rip the bandaid off early. As one of the first coaching dominos to fall, we’ve set ourselves up to have many good options. Coaches give agents what it would take to make a move and let them do their job. Like Cristobal, there are a lot of good candidates still coaching. Also like Cristobal, they can claim that they haven’t been contacted while the agents do all the negotiating and they continue coaching. I’m sure we are making calls and fielding calls from agents around the country and have a few favorites in mind.

Greene is from the northeast and is likely to have connections in that part of the country. I also don’t believe Kiffen, sark, freeze, or any other candidate with baggage is a viable candidate for Greene (yes, but Pearl is a class act and our basketball program could afford a Hail Mary). It will be a class guy that can sit in any recruits living room without having to explain his past. Cristobal fits. Clark, Campbell, Napier, even Steele fits that description. However, other than a few random recruit statements about defensive staff, there’s no evidence that any of these options are the target.

My point being that we’ve got the catbird seat right now as the most high profile job available. We’re positioned to look at guys other than ex-Saban assistants, guys with ties to the state or disgraced coaches looking for a new start. I hope they take their time and I wouldn’t be surprised if none of the coaches mentioned are the target. Steele smoke is to lead us through signing day and hold things together. He will not be the head coach in ‘21. Greene will get this right and if we don’t allow him to have a large amount of input, he will leave and we deserve what we get.

- 90% of this is false. - Everyone is repeating things they hear from people who pretend to be insiders. - You will not be disappointed with this hire. The AD and the board are all in agreement except for 1 person who is a control freak and will not get his way this time. (Too many people are on the same page) - Steele is not going to be our head coach.

If this is correct, I am going to get one of our other posters to give you a kiss.

The information is absolutely correct.

This will be the best hire (on paper) we have made in football since Pat Dye.

I say “on paper” because outcomes and the “fit” are always a guess in the world of coaching.

If (big if) our board and AD screw up this hire/negotiation - I will give up on us ever hiring a quality football coach again. I currently have confidence in our board because of seamless Bruce Pearl hire (which was significantly more complicated and had more dissenters). But this group of Auburn leaders is much more in agreement on the next step in the program.

Just ignore the media. Ignore the “insiders”. They don’t know anything of value right now. They will know the truth about 24 hours before everyone knows it but that is all.

You should be in there too. After all you did say Steele was a good backup plan and that is apparently who we want. Old age and shite record and all.

Idk about rioting, but there would be a lot peaceful protests and boycotted games. Jordan Hare would be a ghost town.

It was a big problem for me when I was at AU.

As in, I had a problem convincing the coeds to cooperate
