If its Venables....that would be a good indication that we cleaned up a ton of our behind the scenes drama. That dude has been very selective. He has more ability than anyone else we've talked with to say 'nah, thanks though'

Venables would be a damn fine choice in any environment. There is drama, but I don't know who to believe at this point. Ron was claiming the world was ending yesterday. All that cleaned up in 6 hours?

I agree 100%. He's been at or near the top of my wish list the whole time.
However, now that we've named him publicly, we'll hear by 11:00 that he is no longer in consideration.

Best thing that could happen at this point is for Gouge to go ahead and conduct ADAG's contract review early (I don't know when it's due), and to make sure that the candidates know that AG will be the AD for the foreseeable future -- and he's who a prospective coach will be answering to.
But, the game is afoot. As LCT just discovered, PAM is parroting that Gouge is an "interim president" -- despite the fact that the BOT took that label off back in February.
I believe there is only one plausible reason for this, and that's to de-legtimize any decision/statement that Gouge may make on the subject

Read that Clark is back on the board...who the Heck knows what is going on...I don't know if I should walk away and come back when someone is hired or just stay tuned watching the fire burn....we really need a cheat sheet to keep up with all of the names...

I have a hard time believing we didn't offer and the boosters weren't way too involved for his liking...how would he know that's a problem we all know we have. The blame for all of this lies with a bunch of booster's egos that are far bigger than the love they claim to have for Auburn and desire they claim to have to win. Our best hope is they start dying off and the new money guys learn from these frickers mistakes

I don't know what to say to anyone who legitimately believed Venables was going to take the job after the shite show we've watched this past week.
Was never gonna happen.
And there may be enough damage done now that we end up stuck with Steele. This search may just break my Auburn fandom.
