Coaching searches are filled w/ craziness & nothing new in 2020. Sources tell us Billy Napier has turned down the Auburn job. Keep a close watch on Bill Clark -- his interview went really well. Clark is incredibly well respected by his peers. A good possibility he is next in line

Napier TURNED IT DOWN? I find that hard to believe.

You have to imagine it is abundantly clear that any coach we bring in, we are telling them that there will be certain staff member that they have to keep. No way Napier turns down this gig if he gets to run the program like he wants to. Assuming that tweet is actually true.

I like Clark too and think he can be a good coach down the road but don’t think he’s ready right now. He’s a defensive coach, and a good one, but the game is as offensive as it’s ever been. I’m not super confident he can have the offense where it needs to be, and not sure he’s connected enough to consistently bring in quality OC’s.

What he’s done at UAB is impressive as hell and I thought they would have dropped off within the past couple years since he leaned so heavily on transfers early. But I’m still not ready to hand the keys over to him.

Just keep Steele. At a minimum we know he is gone in 5 years. Clark will lose 5 games for a decade.

I think you’re onto something... this is a top 12 job, top 15 at worst. Either something like this is happening, or he really is sold on the idea that he is Saban’s heir.

IF Napier turned anything down, we obviously didn’t offer much money.

I’m hoping we gave a low ball offer to start and now follow up with a stronger offer...

But ugh if it’s Clark or Steele

The AD knows how to suppress a fanbase. Decade of Gus followed by Clark. Doing his part in the basketball school transition

Cole Cubelic just said on the radio that Napier "Turned down the Auburn job because he didn't know who his boss was gonna be"

As in, who he was answering to (AD, Boosters, etc.)
